hkskyline's 2016 in Auckland

Auckland was the last stop of my New Zealand trip (Queenstown | Christchurch | Fox | | Franz Josef | | Lindis Pass). Unlike the countryside and natural beauty I experienced on South Island, Auckland is the typical city with skyscrapers, busy streets - in other words, not so interesting.

Hard to believe the harbourfront area was abandoned not long ago. The expensive and short ferry ride would feature lovely skyline views.

Sorry to say that as major metropolis of the country, urban construction of Auckland makes it almost look like a fifth-or-below world city.

First world New York, Paris
Second world Sydney, Toronto.
Third world Shanghai, Dubai.
Fourth world Bangkok, Rio.
Fifth world Auckland almost there or not even close yet.

Well, hkskyline said it was "no so interesting" so that's probably why!

Very nice, looks like a smaller version of San Diego or Sydney.

I'm not sure I've ever you seen you post anything that makes any sense. Auckland is a small city in a first-world country, I don't think they give a damn about where they stand compared to New York or Rio.

Devonport is a short ferry ride from the city with some historic buildings. I wanted to climb Mount Victoria for a panoramic view of the city.

Not interesting? There are many way less interesting cities in the world. Auckland looks beautiful!

I was comparing against the beautiful natural scenery on South Island I visited just before Auckland. I suppose NZ is not famous for its cities.
