They would be built on Melo-owned land just north and south of the company’s 710-unit Square Station, which is currently under construction. The Art Plaza site is at 58 Northeast 14 Street, while the Miami Plaza site is 1502 Northeast Miami Place.

Last week, the company held a party to celebrate Carlos Melo’s 80th birthday, where the map was unveiled.

Melo Revises Design For 425-Unit Miami Plaza

Melo Group appears to be modifying the design for their planned Miami Plaza apartment tower.

Last year, the developer submitted plans to build a 35-story, 370-foot tower with 425 rental apartments.

Now the developer has unveiled a website that includes renderings showing a slightly different design, including green-tinted glass balconies and windows, instead of gray.

The project sits directly to the north of the School Board Metromover station. Directly to the south of the same station is Melo’s Square Station (nearly complete with 710 units), while Melo’s Art Plaza is under construction across the street with 655 units.

Records show that the developer has continued to work with city officials on approvals for both Miami Plaza and Downtown 5th over the past few months.

Melo Tells FAA: We’re Breaking Ground On Another Tower In Months

Melo Group could start construction on yet another downtown Miami apartment tower within months, according to a new filing with federal regulators.

On June 25, the developer applied for approval from the Federal Aviation Administration to build Miami Plaza, which Melo says is a 35-story luxury rental building.

According to the FAA application, the tower would rise 368 feet above ground, or 381 feet above sea level.

Construction is scheduled to begin on November 5, 2018, and wrap up on May 1, 2020, the application states.

In total, Melo is building 1,790 apartments on three city blocks surrounding the School Board Metromover Station. The first, Square Station, opened last month with 710 units, while another, Art Plaza, is under construction with 655 units.

Two Tower Cranes Will Soon Be Installed At 425-Unit Miami Plaza, Where Construction Is Now Underway

Developer Melo Group has submitted an application to install two tower cranes for vertical construction of the 35-story Miami Plaza project.

Groundbreaking took place last month, and foundation work is underway.

According to the application submitted to the Federal Aviation Administration, two cranes would be installed in Mid-March. They would rise 452 feet and 414 feet above ground.

The permanent tower itself is to rise 370 feet above ground.

Miami Plaza will include 425 apartments, 5,064 square feet of retail and 508 parking spaces.

MELO OPENING SIXTH TOWER IN A&E DISTRICT THIS MAY, ADDING 2,300 APARTMENTS & NEW FOOD PLAZA

Melo Group is getting ready to open a new 36-story apartment tower, Miami Plaza.

The developer also announced plans for an indoor/outdoor space called Art Kitchen, with 10 different dining concepts at the base of Art Plaza, including Indian, Peruvian, Mexican, Japanese, Italian and more.

Opening of the 425-unit Miami Plaza is scheduled for May, and leasing is now underway. Prices range from $1,680 to $2,800 per month, with sizes from 700 to 1,400 square feet.

With the opening of Miami Plaza, the developer will have completed 2,300 transit-oriented rental units in the Arts & Entertainment District since 2016:

Melody tower (2016) – 497 units
Square Station (2018) – 710 units
Art Plaza towers (2019) – 667 units
Miami Plaza (2020) – 425 units

All of the new units are transit oriented and within a short distance of the Metromover, and are “attainably-priced,” according to the developer. The completed buildings are nearly 100 percent full, Melo said yesterday.
