You had me all excited. When I saw the name I thought it was something new for downtown Moncton....

I've been waiting for something to happen at this blighted site forever. Time to change downtown's most depressing intersection!

With this building potentially going up, the old Mackay project should be set for a re-birth, no?

Wow, great! Looks like it'll be on the land that part of the Maritime Plaza hotel sits on as well as the adjacent empty lot. This is what the site looks like now.

http://maps.google.ca/maps?q=montrea...327.34,,0,-9.3

This neighbourhood could really use the revitalization after the horrors of urban renewal that were visited down upon it. The lot down the street will be the site of the Ilot Overdale office building, so these two projects together should help kickstart the come back of this part of town. Now, if someone could only put forward a nice proposal for the empty lot across the street from this!

Congratulations, Montreal!

Is this recladding an existing building? Adding to it? Replacing it?

Is the part jutting off the side of the bottom of the building (the one with an almost blank wall with a couple of windows near the top) a separate building?

The building with a blank wall already exist and is part of the Hotel but I dont know if it will be include in the project. Here's the location:

The 37 floor tower is an addition to the current 12 storey box on the left. The tower will occupy what is now a vulgar parking lot.

Assumed this was going to be about a condo in Halifax. It looks ok, but hard to tell.

Not much is known yet beside what mtlurb member swansongtoo posted.

According to IluvMTL:

Was shown as approved by Ville-Marie at least since April (200 condos). I added this info to the 2007 thread.
http://ville.montreal.qc.ca/pls/port...ril%202012.pdf

The August report states 37 floors.

More to come I'm sure, including height (pretty sure it'll be 120m), a better render and the actual name.

I'm glad something is finally proposed for this site, but this render is horrible. What a boxy piece of S! Hopefully, it's just a preliminary render.

This proposal looks as though it was designed for Saint John, New Brunswick. So perhaps the name of this development is extremely appropriate?

Well based on a bad picture of an ambiguous render, I think it looks quite acceptable. I say acceptable while having the full confidence that as this project proceeds, it will improve in appaerance. Sadly, nothing new has been reported about this new incarnation since I opened this thread. Perhaps someone from the inside could give s all a bit more info?

Meanwhile, this could be added in the ssp database and diagram?

A little look at a site that desperately needs a new tower, and a little care.
So far all we have to go is this shy poster.

We finally have some more news concerning the plan to revitalize the maritime Hotel on Guy and Rene-Levesque. A few months back a small render was displayed in the window of the hotel. Now UrbMtl on mtlurb cites a La Presse article which claims the project will be launched within the next 2 months.

The design hasn't been finalized yet, but it seems it will be 39 floors (probably 120m), this is what we have so far:

http://www.mtlurb.com/forums/showthread.php/20636-Hotel-Maritime-Revived/page3

The hotel closes down in 12 days.

It appears the 4 storey portion on the right will be demolished, the rotunda and the tower will remain.

Here is the precise location, the tower will be built on the empty lot and on the land cleared by the demolition of the 5 storey portion.
