"Cira 3" -

I agree - a SPECTACULAR building design - could be 60 stories from the looks of it.

I want it...I want it....we need it - we neeed it. Could it ever happen?

Looks to be about 700 feet, comparing it to the Cira Centre.

Yeah it looks to be mid-high 40s in floor count and 700-800 feet based off Cira's 28 floors. Too bad they couldn't have convinced Lincoln to consolidate into that and stay within the city. The PA business tax exemption could have been valuable.

by the time they actually build it that could be the case, also nutter should have the business tax issue taken care of by then.

Location

I was a little confused where exactly this thing was, so I'll clear it up for anyone else who was having problems visualizing its location.

Don't you just wish this design incorporated a full deck to be constructed over the raills? It's gonna look SOOO strange without it.

Imagine how good this will look from 76 as you pass under the deck for the road above...Should even brighten things up down there

Crashes

Anyone here remember the accident back in October of 1983 (on my 21st birthday!) where a gas tanker crashed and exploded under here? Cars behind the truck drove right into the fireball, killing two. The expressway was closed for nearly a year for repairs.

funny

This project has a similar type of location as the Chicago spire. Its right next to a freeway and water. I bet when it gets under way the pics will look similar.

They should deck over the rails and create a plaza/greenspace.

Yeah, they should, but they don't own the ground or the airspace above the tracks. Amtrak (or Conrail, or whatever agency owns the railroad right-of-way) may have good reasons why they don't want it covered. It could actually be a security or safety issue.

If we are lucky, someone might be able to convince them to sell or cover it themselves.

^ the "good reason" that they(Amtrak) have not to cover it is purely cost...then again if they sold the air rights--or traded them for the city to establish a small park in exchange for a break on property taxes-- it might work out.

Amtrak had no problem selling their air rights on their tracks behind Union Station in DC. The project is still in the planning stages though.

We really shouldn't care about the view from 76...it's a friggin highway! Your daily experience on that highway under the street is 1 minute (unless there's traffic haha) while the street level experience is much longer, so who cares what it looks like on 76? Plus, you can use cement like they did for 95 or the vine street expressway which looks much better for the driver.

The Cira South project looks nice. I'm not so sure whether the Cira 3 should be built or not, because it looks like overkill to me. I'd like to see something designed different, for more diversity please!!! Thank you!!!
