Great photos. Hope you enjoyed your tour.

Downtown DC is a very interesting place. I can't really make up my mind how I feel about it. It has been a massive success at retaining it's office jobs and it the height limit gives it a very unique feel for an American city. But, boy is it bland at ground level. I would definitely rather be in the central core of Philly, Bos, or SF any day.

Thank you, I enjoyed the city.

The downtown of DC felt more "sterile" than the core of Boston, NYC and Philadelphia.
I mean that it was much cleaner than the other city but there were very few things for people who are not office workers as far as retail and activities (except around "Chinatown").
You don't have any reason to go there if you don't work there.

Anyway, Washington DC feels like a real city, a real big city.
It does not feel like it is it is just an administrative town which only reason is to be the capital of the United States.

People say that Washington DC is like Paris but the city is closer to Berlin in my opinion in the way it is structured.

Even though I loathe the hot & humid summers we typically have here in DC, on a day like today when we're preparing for a blizzard these photos make me miss the warmth (though in July I'm sure I'll be thinking fondly back on this cold winter weather).

The monuments are certainly great to check out, especially if you've never been to DC. Hopefully you also had a chance to wander around some of the residential neighborhoods, such as Dupont Circle or Capitol Hill. Lots of great old architecture!

Thank you.

I did go in Dupont Circle but during night time. This is where I eated, this explain why there are few pictures.
As for other cities I visited, my stay in DC was short, just one and half a day.

91. Dupont Circle metro station

98. Because of a long waiting time at Dupont Circle for Red linbe, we walked to Farragut West to tkae the Orange line.

99. This was the last time I used the subway and a public transport in DC and in abn American city during this trip. All the next will be done by car.

Interesting. I haven't been to Berlin. When I visited Paris, I thought it was like a hybrid of DC and New York. More DC-like colors, textures, and design, but more NY-like density and scale. A sort of DC-if-DC-were-at-NY-scale. Berlin being smaller than Paris might make it a good comparison.

I will never be happy with American metro headways again after visiting Paris. 5 minutes even in the middle of the night.

Berlin has big area full of modern government buildings and the street pattern is much more planned in the central area (Mitte)
While Paris is much more mixed, there are street planning with Haussmann and others but this planning are streets inside districts with an organic street patterns
Obviously, I only speak of the central area for Berlin.

Downtown DC reminds me the area around Unter den Linden.

hah, yeah, I was going to say...I can just tell by the look of the trees, air, and grass that it's a typical american "midlands" summery atmosphere. strangely, im not missing it, right now. the latitude DC is at can be brutally humid. i actually am sort of jealous that the east coast is getting hit with a blizzard...go figure.

nice tour!
