Definitely a step up. I wish they had went ahead and painted the entire stairwell that way it would pop as you're coming down Clinton, but like I said...DEFINITELY a step up from what it was.

Exciting!

A building you may never see set for construction..on Redstone Arsenal

BL Harbert International is overseeing the project, which will allow the FBI to boost its training efforts and provide new bomb technician certification programs at the U.S. Army post. Work is underway on the Huntsville development with completion slated for January 2018

The Slymans announced they have signed a 4th hotel concept for Providence. It will be a Hilton brand. He didn't say where in the development it would go.

Running out of places. I would think it would go on the corner across from Springhill Suites.

There are three locations where the new hotel in Providence could be built if you look at their site plan http://www.villageofprovidence.com/site-plan:

1. Directly adjacent to the Hampton Inn & Suites which is being built. There is one more lot to its east which they plan to develop. It would also overlook the village green where the farmers market and car shows are held.
2. The east end of the village green. The site plan shows three buildings planned in the land behind where the stage sits.
3. The parking lot which is across the street from the Springhill Suites. The site plan shows two buildings to be constructed there. One is a U shape and the other is more of a long rectangle.

If they build on the parking lot described above, it will be interesting to see if the reduction in parking affects the businesses there. As a part of the median construction project, the lines for on-street parking were done perhaps in anticipation that the surface lot would be gone soon.

Either way, it seems that a vertical parking garage will need to be built in the future to handle the volume of cars coming to the community whether they are residents of the condos, hotel guests or customers of the restaurants.

My hope is that it goes behind the park and the parking lot is used for an urban (the Avenue style) apartment or condo building. Hopefully with retail on the first floor and an attached parking deck to help with the parking issues.

It really annoys me that their site plan has quietly changed from a large area of homes across the bridge to a very suburban style apartment complex. I understand if there just isn't a demand for the 350k+ houses right now but don't sell out the entire development for some quick money.

New Bar Louie Locations

There are 3 new Bar Louis locations coming to North AL in addition to the current location at Bridge Street.

One will be in Downtown Huntsville in the new building going across from Below the Radar. It will occupy the second floor as well as the rooftop portion.

One will be a standalone location in Madison in front of the Kroger being built on 72.

The third will be a location in Florence. Not sure exactly where.

It will be interesting to see if three Huntsville locations can survive.

I doubt Below the Radar will survive then, unless they lower their prices to compete. The only time I went to Bar Louie is 4pm-7pm, their drink prices before of after that are way too high.

Wow, that's quite a big leap for Bar Louis in the Huntsville area. There is a shortage of larger bar/restaurants in Madison and downtown Huntsville. Any idea if this will be announced anytime soon?

That area downtown is becoming a pretty neat area. Below the Radar has been there a while, Old Town Beer Exchange is nice, and SIP is coming in too. Hopefully Below the Radar will survive. I don't think Bar Louis could match their beer selection and their food is good.

He said they would be announced "soon", but that everything was signed.

Massive New Mural in Downtown Huntsville

As per this page, https://www.facebook.com/downtownhsv/

"We'll be leaking a piece of the puzzle on Facebook each day until the mural is completed."

Also, this site

http://ourvalleyevents.com/10-quirky...king-projects/

references No 8 - Upcoming "Park with a Purpose" pocket park that is about to begin construction.

With everything else going on, in 2 - 3 years, the downtown will be unrecognizable in a good way.

Heard rumor that Redstone Credit Union is considering putting a signature tall building downtown/Medical District. Of course they are probably ALWAYS considering that.

I also heard that a residential, for sale high rise is making its way through the city planning process.. I wonder if they are connected?

Yes, but what is considered "high rise"? 10 stories? Gotta do better than that and hopefully these buildings will be if they come to fruition. And there are some 3 and 4 story buildings around town that have "tower" in the name, so you never can tell.

They will probably embrace the Horizontal Tower concept that is so popular here.

HudsonAlpha will be expanding with a new building. It will be a smaller version of their main building with a large 2 story atrium.

A proposed mixed use development by Crunkleton Commercial Real Estate for the old Huntsville Times site on the Parkway. This would be next to the Whole Foods shopping center.

Nothing special about this, could be anywhere. And what is with the three story impractical fingernail? How would you like to have that view of ac units?
Of course this is the same real estate firm that threw out the oasis fantasy a month or so ago.
