Pretty sure skyscraper has said he's been involved in the project and has seen updated renders, right? And he puts it at 542, which is what I'm guessing is the actual height will be.

Confirmed.
The current set of drawings top out at 542'.
That's the good news.

The bad news is...
The design has been DUMBED DOWN.
Still basically looks the same, just no balconies or features on the main rise of the building. Just a glass box.

Also confirmed.
It will be a Wendy's

Eh I think everyone was expecting value engineered design with the difficulty there's been to get this off the ground. At this point I just want this enormous eyesore of an empty lot banished from broad st. Any idea on how much longer we'll have to wait until we finally see some activity here?

Unfortunately no. The schedule, like all construction schedules are laughable.

They never start when they say they will.

That in itself makes the wait worth while. Screw the details about the tower, what about the details to the Wendy's, like will it have a drive up window.

I heard they will be installing a George Jetson style drive up window on the 42nd floor. Totally new and the first in the country!

At the risk of going off topic, the NY Times had an article on Amazon yesterday in light of the $1,000,000,000,000.00 valuation on the stock exchange. The article delved into some of the recent patents granted, and one was for a floating (hovering) station that, in its most obvious application, would be for the drone delivery of hot food to patrons down below. Very Blade Runner esque.

Ah...very interesting. It's no secret that Amazon wants drones to delivery everything on the last mile. Time will tell what shakes out and what doesn't.

Pardon me if this is a dumb question, but where did the running joke about Wendy's originate from?

There’s also perhaps an even more egregious one at 11th and Walnut.

If someone knows an older reference, point me to it, otherwise, this is the original Wendy's reference, and the bloody and bruised dead horse will turn 5 later this fall. That's page 4 of the W Hotel thread. If you do a search for Wendy's within that thread, you get 4 pages worth of results. Some very charged conversation in parts, some race baiting that may have been subsequently deleted. The 'joke' part came about later, because it was such a heated thing for a while.

The 8-1-18 Permit set does not show balconies in the isometric or elevations.
The set backs are still there, but the balconies shown at every level appear to be gone.
I see on the plans that they still show "terrace" on some rooms. I wonder why they don't show up on the elevations or iso.

Do you have more current set?

Nevermind. My mistake.
After further review, some of the balconies are still there. They VE'd them so much that they blend in with the facade. A lot of the facade features are still gone however. Basically all are gone.
Whatever, I am still glad we are getting another 500+ foot tower.

How about the base? Nothing about the tower portion itself ever seemed that remarkable to me anyway...glad this is still on track. Hope it moves forward soon.
