I like the idea. Definitely a boost to the local economy, assuming it goes through.

As a sports coach and fan this gets me really excited. Also I used to work in trade shows and this will be a great venue. Other than the Delta and the Convention Center, there are few options, that didnt make you feel like you were in a barn (like the Colosseum).

Looks good overall, and the price doesn't seem too bad. Seems to be a better investment than the 3 million to rebuild York in any case.

Still, putting that money into the NBEX buildings, I guess that means they're planning on keeping the race track and grounds there for the near-term future. I know there was some thinking of turning that space over to residential/condo development and moving the Exhibition and track somewhere else.

More money wasted. I still think they should level that whole area. Build something the city can use. we have the convention centre for trade shows that is rarely used.

Rarely used? I'm not sure about that. I've been to quite a few events there myself.

As for the Capital Exhibit Centre, it attracts different kinds of events IMO. The two facilities can coexist.

IMO: Maybe for some people, Dropkick Murphys with The Motorleague doesnt really interest me. Last concert I went to there was for Matthew Good back in 2008 and it was a horrible venue.

I just wish our city would stop playing wheel of founture with our future, before we become Bankrupt, then the only way out is raising property taxes.

Well, ignoring the fact that we don't have the economic base for a casino...

Sunshine Gardens would go on the war path if anyone hinted at putting anything like that on the Exhibition grounds. And they'd probably have St Mary's marching alongside them, since St Mary's would want any Casino and/or Hotel on their lands, not in the downtown.

I agree that the Ex buildings and the Convention Centre attract different types of events, so the two can peacefully coexist. The research into the Ex building opportunities seems solid enough, at least from the proposal, so I'm not begrudging this opportunity at least. (As opposed to the York Arena, that just feels like a money pit at this point)

I know what you mean. I'm a blackjack player myself, and I'd love a place local to play at. But even I recognize the economics aren't in place for a Casino here in Freddy. Maybe in 20-30 years if we get some Golden Ages, but as is, it's a dream some of us will just have to share.

Freddy Transit passes get Holographic.

Quote:
The holograms will first appear on seniors passes next year and after that, they will gradually be phased-in for all passes on the system as the existing stock of rider cards runs out.
I guess they mean the existing stock of blank cards with those wavy dot patterns, since each month has a unique look/colour already (and unique number).

They used to have colour changing ink on the monthlys and tickets (they would fade with body heat, and fade in when they cool off), but that must have been too expensive... or maybe too easy to copy.

I love your passion for city transit.
Just be glad Fredericton is not in the mess Saint John is in with their City Transit

Just a further update, there will be some changes to the evening schedule. Not a full rollback like the person I had talked to thought, but just some later runs, offset by cancelling some earlier low-pop runs. Hourly schedules should still be intact.

The Lincoln/Silverwood numbers are picking up and doing well. They'll be receiving some slight adjustments to better handle transfers at Kings place. In September, they had 1346 passengers and in October that increased to 1895.

Fredericton Transit schedule changes going well; improvements coming in 2015

Quote:
Four more night runs will be introduced. Two buses (Routes 11 and 13) will leave Kings Place at 10:15 pm and go to the Regent Mall / Corbett Centre areas. Two more buses will leave Kings Place and go to the north side: Brookside and Barkers Point (Routes 12 and 14).
To offset these changes, and not impact the overall budget, a couple of routes with low ridership will be changed. Two morning runs (Route 13 and 17) will stop at 9:45 pm; no longer running until 10:45 am. The Route 13 bus will now start at 4:45 pm instead of 3:45 pm.
Hourly service is still maintained; they're just cutting out some of the half hourly runs at the start/end of "rush hour".

Lovely drunk bus drivers on the loose in Saint John. Another reason not to go there

Noticed they have begun work on the office building beside the York Street train station.
