I'm fine with this. I don't mind top 40 hip-hop, and being in Chilliwack, you lose the Beat & Virgin around Sumas Highway in Abbotsford. Finally, I got a crystal clear station here, and right now, it's completely commercial free!
Money speaks... some people want oldies, some people want hard rock, and I want a true urban station like Seattle's KUBE which The Beat 94.5 used to be when it first began but the money's in Top 40 unfortunately.
Local radio sucks. Everything is mainstream stuff that gets repeated two or three times a day. Even get the exact same songs on other stations. If I have to listen to local radio, it is usually a news station. Internet radio for me. There's so much more to offer out there.

I think you mean some of the songs get repeated two or three times per hour
Classic rock and pop music stations are the cancer killing vancouver radio
I used to listen to this spotty electronic music station from Seattle (C89.5 fm) all the time and then some classic rock station from chilliwack opened up on the same frequency.
I was literally enraged when one day I turned on the radio and found the frequency a staticy mess caught between those two stations.
I like that they've been playing Classified's "The Day Doesn't Die", plus now they're Chilliwack and Abbotsford's only Top 40 station. When I lived in Mission, my clear choices were oldies or country. Bleh. I was able to get hip hop on Seattle's KUBE 93, a bit staticky like The Beat and Virgin but with better music except on days when they had four Ludacris songs an hour.
Yep, Abbotsford had hard times getting the Beat or Virgin, while Chilliwack it was practically full of static. It's a Chilliwack based station with other towers in Abby and Vancouver. Either way, it's been refreshing. Beat has too much talk on it, and that Mira girl on the morning show came back from mat-leave and I can't stand listening to her. virgin is OK, but again, too much talk...
They started off playing too many of the same songs, but in recent weeks they've opened up to alot different music and be a bit more diverse and to have a better mix.
It seems the smaller local stations have been taken over by the big corporations moreso now than the past, it seems every city has a jack fm, kiss fm, fresh fm, virgin radio etc. with the same playlists and annoying DJ's now
