hkskyline's 2015 Weekend Excursion to Guangzhou

I have been to China way too many times this year. But with decent smog-free skies, summer in Guangzhou is one of my regular traditions. I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

This part of Tianhe is Guangzhou's new city centre, with many tall skyscrapers and a huge city park in between.

A city I've always wanted to visit. Is it possible to still see the old opium warehouses, or have they long been destroyed?

Great pics! I really liked Guangzhou, I was there in March. I wished I had more time and that the weather was like this. The supertall seems almost finished know.

I don't think they are around anymore. Taikoo has some warehouses from after the Opium War era though.

You came last spring, right? The weather along the southern coast is usually very foggy at that time of year. I prefer the slender more stylish of IFC over the boxy and boring CTF though.

Was there in March. It's a shame because Chinese cities have so many impressive buildings but nothing looked really impressive when hidden about grey fog and pollution. I was told it was too humid to go in summer so I thought spring was the best time. Originally I planned to go in November the year before but it was postponed.
Yes agree about IFC!

CTF Finance Centre - the irony is there isn't much of a banking industry here as the stock markets are in Shenzhen and Shanghai.

The Four Seasons is the highest hotel in the city. Taking up the top section of Guangzhou IFC between the 74-98th floors, the views here are worth staying for a drink. The central atrium reminds me of Jinmao in Shanghai, but with more rugged shaping.

Stop for a drink and enjoy the views.
