When I go to a coffee shop I sit alone at a table blogging on my Mac, because I am a trendy hipster consumer whore like that...

Seriously though, I don't. But what is with those people? They are everywhere!

Lol, personally I prefer the term kaffeeklatsch.

Much more trendy hipster modern/ 50s housewife / 1920s Vienna

That's funny, a coffee talk discussion about the thread itself.

Some of you young'uns are probably too young to have heard the expression "water cooler talk", which sounds more like what's intended here.

Maybe I'm just not bohemian enough, but chatting in coffee shops isn't something many of my peers ever do. And these days it's all about the Mac laptop crowd anyway as Bigtime points out.

Anyway, I can confirm that it's not a ubiquitous phrase. I can also confirm that I'm one of those horrible people that doesn't spend their life on SSP and therefore I haven't seen every single non-Canada thread. Heck, I rarely venture outside of Local:Calgary these days.

Wait a minute Freeweed, you are saying there is more to life than SSP?

If anything this could be the one website that actually encourages its members to go outside (and take pictures of buildings and everything else)!

Sorta, but I do realize the irony of saying this as someone who has nearly 4500 posts. Over about 30 months, which works out to an average of 5 per day.

And I miss a lot of days.

I'm at 296, with an average post of .88 posts per day. After this post my average should go up quite a bit!

Edit: I just checked and now I'm up to 0.89 posts per day.

I think we need one more thread. Although it seems like we have 5000 different threads under the Calgary SSP, another thread couldn't hurt. Maybe one to catch things missed in the coffee talk thread.

I wish I could have gone. They were great when I saw them play in Calgary 2 (3?) years ago.

I wish any big western band I like would come and play a show in Shanghai. I haven't been to a concert in a LONG time, and I miss the fun of a concert so much.
