Tried L&M today and it was fantastic! Great (and quick) service, delicious food, and a view to die for! They're also going To have outdoor seating on the roof facing signal hill and the harbour in the summer which will, no doubt, be amazing! Strongly recommend!

Was having breakfast at A&W in CBS this morning, and overheard some people discussing the rumour that Starbucks will be setting up shop in the former KFC there. Anyone got any confirmation on this rumour?

I fail to see the need for a Starbucks there, there are two across the street.

See into the future when that area and the northern tip of the avalon are even more built up... cars and people everywhere!

pretty much, that area is going to become a commercial centre to a much larger area. I have no doubt that most of the area will fill in to the north. Hopefully they will increase density as well going forward. at least there's a few apartment buildings planned as well as offices (mind you I know that the place is still a MESS for pedestrians, there's hope for infill in the future (ya know... all those parking lots lol)

They'll want a shuttle for the whole area (stavanger/power/field) once it's more populated. Park somewhere handy, hop on the 6 shuttles running around the clock on the 10's and you're good to go!

You gotta get into the Tim Hortons mind frame here. At any point in this city you're probably less than a 5 minute walk from 3 Tim Hortons, Starbucks is trying to do the same

It wouldn't hurt if they spread them out a bit, maybe one on Topsail Road or Mt. Pearl, Paradise and another one downtown.

In the Agenda for the Council meeting tomorrow, approval of a building permit for Milestones restaurant on Hebron Way.

Activity in that area should be picking up in the months ahead.

According to the council minutes, it was approved on April 16th.
It's quite a nice restaurant actually. Was in one in Toronto. It's part of the CARA foods group of restaurants such as Swiss Chalet, Montana's, Harveys, and Kelseys. I think this may be the first one in Atlantic Canada.

They have been pouring concrete footings there over the last week or so. So that building should go up fairly quickly.

I've never eaten there but have heard good reviews, can't wait to try it. Looks like the CARA group have taken a liking to St. John's over the past few years. Along with Milestones, two Montana's, two Swiss Chalet's and Harveys have all opened up within the past 5 years or so. It'd be nice to get a Kelsey's here to throw in the mix; I have eaten there before and it's comparable to Montana's/BP, but it's nice to have options.

CARA also controls the former Prime Restaurants these days (East Side Mario's, Casey's, Fionn MacCool's & Bier Markt).

I guess we can add East Side Mario's to the growing list of CARA's dominance in SJ... .
