Austin - TxDot campus in Southeast Austin. This also shows The Domain in North Austin on the horizon (middle top of photo) that is growing into Austin's 2nd skyline. That area already has a handful of 200 footers with a couple of 300 footers on the way and even one that will be a few feet shy of 400 feet.

It's crazy seeing Singapore with all those new towers. I remember when their skyline was pretty much just that cluster of towers in the middle along with the "big three".

Austin representin' ... and refreshing to see locales other than Chi-Town in the thread. From scraper-geek pov, I really don't get the enormous 'Chicago superior to NYC' fanboy movement. Sure it has the Willis/Sears 400meter+ and other supertalls but overall the tall built-form is barely a slice of Manhattan. And it drops like a stone a couple of kilometers west of the lake.

And there's nothing like ESB, Chrysler, Woolworth etc. on the ('scraper) architectural front.

Sydney reminds me of a greener Los Angeles. That one street there reminds me a lot of Wilshire Boulevard.

I don't get that vibe at all, other than climate. Sydney is more like a warmer Boston.

(I've never been to the town centers shown, other than North Sydney.)

Their waterfront for sure, but I was talking about the more suburban areas as shown above. Those resemble suburban LA, even though it's probably more dense than those areas of Sydney.

Austin - West Campus neighborhood - north of downtown and west of the University of Texas. It's mostly student housing. This photo is a year or so old. The sprawling midrise brown building in the center right of the photo was demolished earlier this year to make room for a new tower, and a twin to that one has topped out across the street next to the parking garage.

And they should tear every last one of those damned monstrosities down. They couldn't have done a better job of ruining a charming neighborhood if they'd used nuclear weapons.
