Optima gets going on Kierland development

Interesting that one building will be rentals and the other condo's. I'm still hoping that Optima's next project will be in Downtown Phoenix!

These media guys are a little behind, lol. Optima has been going for a while now and a tower crane has even been up for about a month. I will be next door tomorrow and will grab an update pic.

There was a Chicago article that mentioned a potential downtown Phoenix project a while back; it also mentioned the Kierland project, so it wasn't your typical mix-up of not knowing where downtown truly is. Doesn't mean it is credible at all, and I just don't see an Optima product would make sense right now. If the Portland Parkway continued east and the Parsons Center building not existed, it would make look great overlooking the park.

Downtown has so many random shitty buildings that any location seems out of place. The former Omega lot behind Orpheum Lofts is another idea, but that heinous phone network building is an eyesore. Somewhere near the historic Churches, Masonic Temple, etc. could also be nice if not for the massive U-shaped City garage. If Crescent ends up building Barrister Place out, perhaps the south side of Block 23 would be a fit?

A 20-30 story Optima tower would be Awesome!! how about right at Central and Adams?

Good news, now they can demo the old theatre (giant eyesore) and develop the northern end of the mall.

Driving by McDowell and 68th today and noticed some zoning hearings

Looks like some town home proposals to replace the defunct Car dealerships at the North East Corner.

Also a sister development apparently across the street.

Not sure what theater you are thinking this is - but they are talking about the internal mall theater "Fashion Square 7" which is internally buried/built under the main mall structure and is not really all that visible at all . . .

Maybe there's some confusion here with old Camelview. Is that still standing?

I don't know whether anyone has discussed this but Five Star has been given the green light for building residential and a hotel on their lot at the NEC of Lincoln and Mockingbird, they're expecting to break ground this summer.

Meanwhile the Mountain Shadows property is turning out to be a really big building, I wish they hadn't allowed something so big on that piece of dirt because along with the new homes across 56th it just has turned that area into a far-too-dense neighborhood.

Infill and restaurant developer Wetta Ventures has broke ground on a new $5 million restaurant project at Arizona State University’s SkySong development in south Scottsdale.

The project will include three or four different restaurants. It totals 12,000 square feet and will also have a 3,000-square-foot garden.

Completion is set for the end of the year. (Phoenix Business Journal)

I wonder what will happen to Henkel's signature building along the 101.

"The German parent of an Arizona company that makes soaps and detergents plans to consolidate the unit's operations in Connecticut, closing its operations in Scottsdale over the next year and a half."

The PBJ article says that no decisions about the building have yet been made.

"Theranos, the embattled blood-testing startup company, said it will shut down its Scottsdale laboratory and five metro Phoenix wellness centers to focus on developing its laboratory technology."

The Scottsdale lab is at SkySong.

I remember this coming up a few months back, Looks like Scottsdale fashion is going for a full build out on all of its remaining parking lots.

1st Phase looks like a new addition at the old Harkins, and then the edition of office/apartment/hotel space on the northern half of that block south of optima and next to the auditorium there.

Pics of the new Envy Residences in Old Town taken 12/11/16. Project looks awesome. I love seeing concrete/ steel framed residences built in the Valley.

I LOVE the multi color glass used on this section of the building:

I'm not a Scottsdale hater, but the name "Peacock Scottsdale" does not seem very self aware.
