More violet than indigo, I think.

I tend to throw a terd in the stew once in a while with my what ifs, but those murals remind me of stained glass, it would have looked pretty cool if it was, and if it was illuminated from behind.

I think idiots would have broken it eventually.

This project is completed and the hotel is now open. Has anyone seen this lately? I don't usually complain about new buildings unless they are too short. But this one turned out hideous. It's much worse than the mediocre rendering.

On their website I saw the rendering of the completed project. Did you find a current photo?

My opinion is based on seeing it in person. Someone in the Charlotte forum at Urban Planet who was visiting Austin posted a photo of it as a display of ugliness. But I couldn't locate the photo just now with a minimal effort.

Well, my opinion (based on the rendering) is that it's ugly. I thought that in the beginning and think it now. I can't say I'm surprised to hear that it's worse than the rendering.

Those are both bad. The second one is worse. Ouch. Can we build stuff on every single side of this now?

Unfortunately I don't think what's currently being built directly North of this is going to help.

The problem is that both of these look like roadside motels when they could have done something unique considering they're on Red River and in the middle of music venues. I liked Hotel Indigo before the siding was put up, when it was a light blue color. Different color, but how about painting it Indigo. Just do it. It can't possibly look worse

Yup, they look exactly like what you see in the typical clusters of generic mid-rises that lie several miles outside the downtown of most large cities. They'd look right in place lining 183 in Cedar Park, or 71 near the airport.

Here's another lovely shot of it from a KXAN article about fake parking lot attendants. So much ugliness in one photo.

Ah, it's not so bad. If you close your eyes then it's like it's not even there.

There is literally not one good thing in that photo. Even the sky is cloudy.

There's no homeless contingent hanging out either which is normal for that area.
