Gananoque: Then cruise the Thousand Islands!

Here are some pics I took in the summer. The first part of the thread shows Gananoque, Ontario, a small town about an hour's drive east of Belleville. I then boarded a cruise boat to tour the beautiful Thousand Islands area of New York State. The mansions make one's head spin! If I ever hit the lotto...........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We pull away from Gananoque, and head east toward New York State.

The Thousand Islands Bridge comes into view.

Off Alexandria Bay, New York.

Hope you enjoyed your cruise.

Cool. I've never seen boating communities like this before. It's interesting.

Hope you enjoyed your cruise.
Great photos of the area. I believe the photo I highlighted shows the international border (white buoy/beacon) as I believe that little bridge crosses the border. I'm not sure who owns which but I believe this is the bridge that is touted as the shortest international bridge between Canada and the US.

Compared to many recreational/cottage areas in eastern and central Ontario, this area seems quite crowded in terms of housing density, boat traffic (both recreational and commercial).

Frickin Frabulous Frotos.

The houses on their own islands reminds me a lot of Lake of the Woods/Kenora area.

Very nice, so different than what Im used to. Im imagining the water is pretty nice in summer. Is it relatively clean and cool?

Really nice looking place though. If only we could get rid of the residents it would be perfect.

Nevertheless the photos are outstanding and the town IS very picturesque after all. Well done !
