Fantastic!

Thanks so much. I've been lusting for some good aerial shots of downtown and the rest of the city.

I like them all, but these two especially rock.

Wow, what an amazing skyline!! Bravo. That Wells Fargo Center is really one of the greatest buildings of the 1980's.

Wow, quite a monster of a good thread. Very nice indeed, but... St. Paul?

Edit: Ok, found the St. Paul thread!

Fantastic set. Minneapolis is impressive as usual. But I see shots in here that blow me away with your unique perspectives. I think it's incredible that you go to such time and expense to produce these aerial tours, then you organize and present it here to us FREE. What did we do to deserve such a privilege? Thanks KCgridlock.

I've never seen a cooler picture of my neighborhood than this one...

For many years Foshay meant Minneapolis to me, now it almost looks kind of awkward in the midst of those other beauties. But I still have a fondness for it. Of course the pics are fantastic. And to show what a great guy I am, I'm willing to fly along with you (for a nominal fee) on these aerial excursions and hold your cameras while you shoot with another.

Ok, I'll do the equipment toting chore for free..........dammit, how many duckets will it take for me to be your bestest friend so I can tag-along on these flights?

PLEASE....Please...Take me with you.

Nice pics, thanks KC

I loved seeing the neighborhood I lived in , almost could see my apartment building on LaSalle. The skyline has good density and balance. The 3 bigs compliment each other perfectly.

That's a really handsome train. We were having a discussion in the MW forum about who has the best looking system. This is definitely one of my favorites.

Great job as always KC!! Thanks to your work, I think many of us on the forum have developed a new respect for some under-appreciated cities.

Again, another great set!

Question for the Minneapolitans (Minneapolites?) - the building on the far right; the yellow-beige stone facade matches the Wells-Fargo (Norwest) tower and there's a similar feel - was this built before Wells-Fargo? I ask because it seems like a not-entirely-successful homage to one of Pelli's best.

The building I think you are refering to is LaSalle Plaza. It was built after WellsFargo (Norwest) Center. It is one of the more underrated towers in the city.

The building you're refering to is LaSalle Plaza, which was completed in 1991, about 3 or 4 years after Pelli's tower. It's a major mixed-use development which included the office tower, a new YMCA, restoration of the Historic State Theater, several restaurants (Palomino's and Rock Bottem Microbrewery). I think the architect was Ellerbe & Assoc (they were one of the anchor tenants in the building). I know there's some references to wheat grains in the building facade to symbolize the region's prairie roots.

I would be more than willing to take up others if they are willing to split the cost . I will be in DC next week on vacation, but I'm sure aerials are out of the question there. Do you have any good vantage points for shots of the city there since it is so lowrise?

Again, thanks everybody for all the comments and kind words. I really do appreciate it.
