My guess is a Hotel Indigo. An AC Hotel was announced for for Constellation a while back, but that has since probably unraveled.

Pinhook
a great idea, Huntsville has a very thriving food truck scene.

Amie Vaughn White, who works for South Realty, plans to open Pinhook Provisions Street Food Park, a new year-round mobile dining hotspot on 2315 Bob Wallace Ave. featuring ample parking, climate-controlled indoor seating, outdoor seating with fans, restrooms, yard games, live music and more.

The Huntsville food truck scene has experienced explosive growth during the past two years, and is expected to continue expanding. Research firm IBISWorld said five-year U.S. industry revenue should jump 9.3 percent by late 2015.

With nearby Whole Foods expected to launch this fall, White said the timing of the food truck park couldn't be better.

"We have so much culinary talent here and I want it to be more accessible to everybody," she said. "I want to offer a consistent schedule where you know so you don't have to hunt the trucks down."

Farm Burger will arrive this fall at The Shops at Merchants Walk, at the northeast corner of Bob Wallace Avenue and Memorial Parkway.

Farm Burger, which specializes in grass-fed beef and pasture-raised meats, will join Whole Foods Market, Spa Sydell, The Masters Salon, Maki Fresh Sushi Rolls and Japanese Grill, Mountain High Outfitters and Orangetheory Fitness at the $50 million development.

Huntsville's proposed new Aquatic Complex which includes renovating the existing Natatorium. This will double the size by adding a second Olympic size pool along with a therapy pool and seating for 1200.

Currently more than 67,000 swimmers used the Natatorium in 2014, making it one of the city's busiest recreation facilities. Construction should begin this fall.

Intergraph proposes 1,300 residential units as part of Town Madison

Intergraph is presenting to the City of Madison Planning Department a proposal for 1,300 residential units. From the AL.com article:

[QUOTE]Intergraph has proposed building nearly 1,300 residential units as part of a plan to build a "live, work, play destination" to its 227-acre campus next to its new headquarters in Madison. The residential units consist of apartment complexes, single-family detached houses, and loft apartments over commercial space. The proposal, which seeks rezoning approval on Thursday from the Madison Planning Commission, also includes about 30 acres of open spaces for parks and greenways.[QUOTE]

Here is the link to the al.com article: http://www.al.com/news/huntsville/in..._more_business

It is significant that 30 acres of park land is included in their proposal. Also in the pictures it shows that in the Breland owned portion of Town Madison which is along Zierdt Rd., there is a "Mixed Use" portion closest to Zierdt, but the "Regional Retail Center" will be just to the west of that.

The Sembler Companies which is handling the leasing for the retail portion has said that they will be making announcements about the anchors after the U.S. Dept. of Transportation has given its approval for the I-565/Town Madison Parkway interchange. They expect this approval this summer and will make public who they have signed up for the project.

Maybe now that Intergraph is making headway with their portion of Town Madison, the Breland part won't be far behind. One caveat is that the widening of Zierdt Rd. won't be completed until 2017 at best.

Another Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market is probably planned at the corner of Bob Wallace and Jordan Lane behind the current fire station. Westlawn school is being replaced and is up for sale. This portion of the property that the store will be on has been sold to the developer who wants to build the grocery.
This will really hurt the longtime Holiday Food store across the street, that small strip center is currently being renovated. The Wal mart grocer however will be a big addition for this old area of Huntsville

Believe construction is expected to start soon (January 2016 unless aldont decides they don't want to do it or come up with excuse) on overpasses on Memorial Parkway at Lily Flagg and Byrd Spring

ALDOT and Huntsville are splitting the tab for the massive road improvement project, which is expected to cost $60 million and take 2 ½ years to complete.

Martin said workers will start by building new Parkway frontage roads from just south of Golf Road to just north of Whitesburg Drive – a distance of about 1.7 miles.

Once the service roads are finished, she said, northbound and southbound Parkway traffic will be shifted there so work can start on the new main lanes and overpasses.

Also, the Martin Road interchange that leads to Redstone Arsenal's Gate 1 will be widened and reconfigured for better traffic flow.

Not much action on the board lately so I thought I would throw this out there... just got back from Atlanta. Here are two stores that I would like to see here. I think an Alon's Bakery and Market could be a nice fit in Lendon and a MicroCenter would be nice to have in town (in old Winn-Dixie behind Cheddars or in old Brunos on North Parkway).

It seems like a lot of these new developments have been slowed down lately. The Whole Foods looks like nothing has been done to it for a month now but the sign in front of it still says opening this summer. The new city center downtown hasn't really progressed as much as I thought at this moment either. The Lendon project is slowly creeping along but at this rate they won't be finished for another couple of years. I'm excited for all of these developments where we can get more foot traffic in the city, I just hope nothing falls through the cracks.

Think of Lendon as a Providence like project. It will take 10+ years over several different phases to complete it. Providence has been around 10 years and still isn't complete. They just started to utilize the "Bridge to Nowhere" that was built as an incentive to land the project.

That is true; however, Providence has much more land than Lendon. The only way Lendon expands is if it expands in front of the wellness center. Regardless, I can't wait to see the final product on all of these developments. The ones downtown look like they will be fantastic and can't wait to explore it.

Work is underway on $10.6 million senior apartment community in Huntsville

Quote:
The facility will offer free WiFi in common areas, a fitness room, outdoor gathering spaces and a garden for residents to enjoy, Pinkey added. Apartments will range from $895 for a studio to $1,300 for three-bedroom layouts.

"A lot of things are geared toward assisted living," Pinkey said. "This is an opportunity where if they don't need assisted living, they can invest their money elsewhere while still living an active lifestyle."

A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony with the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County will take place this fall.

City Centre downtown update:

According to a recently-revised contract with the city, the developers of the $70 million CityCentre at Big Spring project intend to start work first on the hotel and retail space.

The contract says developers hope to have the necessary building permits in hand by Jan. 11, 2016, and start construction exactly two months later – on March 11, 2016.

The new hotel, shops and restaurants at CityCentre – clustered around the Williams Avenue-Monroe Street intersection – are scheduled to open in January 2017.

The development team, led by RCP Companies, plans to build a boutique-style hotel with up to 150 rooms and 25,000-plus square feet of retail space overlooking the Von Braun Center and Big Spring Park.

Huntsville Urban Development Director Shane Davis said he expects the name of the hotel to be announced in the coming days.

And on the west side of downtown:
The Huntsville Housing Authority is launching another major public housing redevelopment project in the downtown area.

Executive Director Michael Lundy got the go-ahead from housing authority board members Monday to negotiate a contract that could eventually lead to razing the 166-unit Sparkman Homes public housing site on Holmes Avenue.
Twickenham Square (Downtown Publix, Homewood Suites, Lofts, restaurants) was developed from a previous public housing location.

The west side news is interesting. I was just over there today and thought of the possibilities. I was hoping that the citycentre would be further along because I really think that is going to be a popular area, but I'm inpatient haha.

A few blocks west of Mason Court (just west of Memorial Parkway/Clinton interchange) at the Campus 805 site:

Campus No. 805 in west Huntsville just got a little bigger.

In addition to two large breweries, multiple small businesses and a public recreational lawn, the mixed-use project will include a new 16,000-square-foot retail building at the corner of Clinton Avenue and Lowery Street on the east end of the property.

The $2 million facility, developed by Randy Schrimsher and Yellowhammer Brewing partner Bill Roark, is already under construction and on target for completion within the next six months. It will include 8-10 units ranging from 1,300 to 3,900 square feet in size.

This project is going to completely transform that area. I'm anxious to see what will happen along Governors.
