Nice, thank you. That's a cute little tower crane.

Nice pic. I like the way the south side of WAG looks... it's a bit of a shame that it was blocked and rendered somewhat invisible all those years.

Looking at that photo, it makes me wonder what it would've been like if, say, a 25+ story building went on that site. There would be views of the Ledge and the proximity to the U of W, could've been something unreal.

But I am excited for this new Inuit Expansion. It's going to transform that corner very nicely.

^ as a consolation, there will be a 14-storey building going in right beside this one (same architect as the WAG project actually).

Agreed. It even had a cool obelisk that looks like it has been removed, which is really too bad. There really aren't enough obelisks in this part of the world. https://www.google.com/maps/@49.8888...7i13312!8i6656

Another crane in Winnipeg’s sky!!! This one for the Inuit Art Centre @wag_ca. Designed by California architect Michael Maltzan. I can’t wait to see this great addition to the city’s cultural institutions.

I didn't think the project is even tall enough for a tower crane. How tall will the Centre be?

I think it was a matter of it being in such a tight space rather than height.

The city should study/track extended lane closures as a result of construction, and if it’s determined (as it likely often will be) that there’s no real consequences of it, look at road diets to expand sidewalks, add bike lanes, etc. This would be a good place – no need for 4 lanes there. St. Mary should have a protected bike lane from Main to Portage & connecting into U of W.

IIRC they are going to be putting the obelisk back inside in the exact same spot as before. Think there was even a render of it somewhere.

Wonder now that they’ve (horribly) rebranded if some changes might be made to the IG building. There’s something about it I do really like, but it hasn’t been touched since it was built to my knowledge. Walking around IGF yesterday I cringed at what the costs are going to be to change all the signage... there’s lot of them, and some very massive ones.

One Canada Centre is an interesting building... it probably has one of, if not the most impressive office lobbies in the city. Unlike the P&M towers with their small lobbies, it really has a soaring, prestigious feeling. It is completely removed from the dowdiness of the north Portage surroundings. That said, I doubt much will change other than a new sign at the top.

As for IGF, they'll just go through the motions and change all the signs, etc. the same way they did at the arena when MTS rebranded...

Well yes I know they’ll change them lol. Just saying it’s going to Ben a massive cost, more than the arena I would say, as there’s more, and there WAY bigger.
