only a fraction of the multiple skylines that make up Tokyo. Shiodome first group of talls, with Shinjuku West in background.

^amazing. Totally amazing. Looks very vulnerable to rising sea levels, however.

Part of San Jose's skyline in the foreground, the Oakland skyline on the distant horizon.
Bonus: light rail in the freeway median, and nearby Caltrain tracks and signals

mello, yes that is a solid mix of condo's, hotels and office.

The tallest in the center is the Sovereign, at 665 feet. It's mixed use, with office on the first 25 floors, condo's on the next 25.

The next tallest to the left is the Mandarin Oriental Hotel & Residences at 580 feet, with the hotel on lower floors and condo's above.

To tall building to the left of that is Park Avenue condo's, at 486 feet.

The rest are a mix of single use office buildings, hotels and condos/apartments.

Great topic!

I know Boston is visible from the curb at the airport in Worcester, MA. It is 42 miles away and you can see the first and second largest cities in New England. Worcester is a couple of miles and Boston is 42 miles. They could be captured in one shot. I live over an hour away from there so I wouldnt be able to get a photo any time soon.

Also, from the summit of a nearby mountain (Wachusett Mt +/- 2000') you can see Worcester, MA, Manchester NH, and Boston all at the same time.

From a hill just a few miles south of Boston (Blue Hill +/- 600') there is a weather observatory and from that you can see Boston, Providence, RI as well as Fall River, MA. The hill is in the middle so you would have to point the camera in different directions or do a pano.

Having lived near water for many years now, its interesting to see how clouds form over land when the vapor of the land rises. Depending on the conditions, you will many times find distinct clouds over land and none over the water, or vice versa where there are clouds more over water and few clouds over land.

Now that is an actual city. Japan, oh if you weren't so far and if I had people who could translate for me I'd visit in a heartbeat.

It's really fascinating, and the Florida coast is one of the best places to observe this. Hawaii with its mountains is another great place to see multiple cloud forms.

This is a totally different weather phenomenon caused by cold Pacific waters, but I find the marine layer in Southern California, lurking off shore or hugging the coast to be fascinating too. Really makes our "weather" interesting. Temps can drop 15 - 20 degrees in half an hour in the summer when it rolls in.
