Does anyone know what's going on at the corner of S. Flores and El Paso st near the HEB campus? What about the corner of S. Flores and S. Alamo? Is that going to be a building or a surface parking lot or just remain a 'brown-field"?

SW corner of Flores and Alamo became a parking lot fo city building across the street. Pretty disappointing.

Landscape design is the increasingly prevalent brown rock and sparse planting aesthetic. Pretty gross. This isn't Arizona.

GrayStreet under contract for SAISD site

Quote:
GrayStreet Partners is under contract for one of six properties the San Antonio Independent School District put up for sale, a deal that will provide a significant boost to the firm's expanding footprint along the lower Broadway corridor, according to a person familiar with the deal who declined to be identified.

Informally known as the Austin Street Complex, the roughly 15-acre site falls in the area bordered by Broadway Street to the west, Casa Blanca Street to the south and East Grayson Street to the north. The eastern edge is generally along Austin Street.

...

Despite its attractiveness, however, the land presents challenges for development. Some parcels included in the in the complex's boundaries aren't zoned, platted or recorded, which means there is extensive work to be done prior to any sale.

With that said, the deal between GrayStreet and SAID likely won't close until later this year, or possibly early 2018.
Roughly this whole area!

Glad to see this is still alive! With LoneStar looking to get underway as well, this area of the river should start to really take off!

There is a part of me that enjoys seeing the vacant power plant (kind of has an apocalyptic feel to it) whenever I'm on that part of the trail but it will be really nice to see it get redeveloped and add a little more life to the area.

Guess which old, derelict, ten-story building in the heart of downtown is about to be rehabilitated?

WOW! Finally! Keeping my fingers crossed on this one. Looks promising! That building IMO is the worst eyesore downtown! I'd want to live on the top floor if this comes to fruition.

I'd rather it be torn down, imploded, whatever, and replaced, but at least this is something.

The current facade is on top of the original beautiful brick and stone facade. It's very similar to the nearby Exchange Building. Part of the original facade is visible through some of the white panels that have fallen off. It's a beautiful building and it would be a crime to tear it down. And bonus points for apartments instead of another hotel!

It was a crime to put up that ugly facade in the first place! What were they thinking?!? Sigh...

That's all in the past. Hopefully, it will be restored.
Agreed about apartments than another hotel. Something for the locals!

Hopefully they can redevelop that huge ass parking lot that goes all the way to the river into something as well. I'm sure it'll be long term but that would be nice for apartments above and retail below, with a restaurant of sorts on the riverwalk.

That view is really cool! I need to check it out for myself one day.

Apart of me really wishes they'd tear down the Marriott Riverwalk. It's such an ugly building. But i know it'll never happen. They could easily turn that area into a little pond or something.
