Salisbury House doesn't really try too hard with anything.

Not a family resto, but man is the Kelseys Wikipedia page depressing!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelsey...inal_Roadhouse

Quote:
Once a chain of more than 140 locations from Quebec westerly to British Columbia, the company has closed all but two locations in British Columbia, shuttered nine locations in Alberta, closed all locations in Saskatchewan, and closed all locations in Manitoba. In Ontario, numerous locations across the company have closed including locations in Kitchener, Simcoe, and Fort Erie. The Owen Sound location was due to close on December 20, 2013. As of November 2013 there are just 88 Kelseys locations left in Canada, primarily in the province of Ontario.
Even the people that like the dreck at Kelseys were probably turned away by the 680 ads for Roadhouse Fest on YouTube

They've been around forever. It used to be a kind of unassuming, blue collar place for a cup of coffee and a sandwich, but it has morphed into the Hell version of Perkins.

They even have their own beer now so you can take the depressing home with you:

Do they specialise in Salisbury Steaks?

It looks like the place where Mike Meyers lives. Hamilton is trapped in a Judge Dredd reality, behold the tallest building in the city!

Do they call it "the Hammer" because you could use that building as a blunt instrument?

Hey! I've stayed in that uggo and I enjoyed it both times! The direction connection to Jackson Square Mall is a huge selling point!

The way the elevator says "lobby" when you get down to the lobby... *chef's kiss* You have to hear it to know what I'm talking about! Plus, you can't beat the view:

Literally, yes. That's exactly what Sal's is about. They call it "nip", cover it in onions and put it on a bun. It's a big thing in Thunder Bay, too, but we serve it with fries and cover the entire dish with gravy.

A Thunder Bay "Hamburger Nip" https://thesalthunderbay.com/ <a Salisbury House derivative that is far more hip than Salisbury House could ever hope to be. I hope none of you ever have to come here but if you do get put here for some reason and need a burger, you won't regret this one.

And while it sounds/looks revolting, it's actually really good, especially if you like gravy. The bottom slice of the bun, all soaked in grease from the burger and the gravy, is a delicious treat and probably the part of the whole dish most looked forward to! There is another restaurant in Thunder Bay called Nippers which served the same thing, but these days specializes a local variant of the Coney Burger though you can still get both "Hamburger Nip" and "Nip Nip" on the menu.

Most of Cochrane has developed since 1990 and is all suburban. Plus, the Town (should be City, but so should Richmond Hill) has a 'Cowboy/Western' theme. This all adds up to the perfect combination of FauxWestern Shiturbia.

With all those palm trees in Cochrane you'd think it was Maple Creek, SK!

It's what Salisbury House would be if it tried.

If Clockzilla is the Eye Of Sauron, than the Marriott San Francisco is Orthanc (Saruman's Tower)

It's so nice to see that nothing goes to waste! All the left over parts are used! Note the dome shaped skylight on the top floor! #classy

At first I thought it was a picture from a former soviet state. I remember that building though. A condo addition on top of an office building with the most expensive penthouse in Toronto.
