Idyllwild, CA---Just a blurb of it, and a little hike around a lake.

On Saturday, 9.23.2022, my partner and I took a little day trip to Idyllwild, up in the San Jacinto Mountains, about a 2-hour drive east from where we live in South Pasadena. It was the first official day of fall, yet temps were in the 80s in South Pasadena. But in Idyllwild, it was 70 degrees and perfect.

So, here are some random photos of the town of Idyllwild and environs.

I wondered where these folks were from.

Whenever we go to Idyllwild, we often eat here.

White sangrias.

I ended up getting their grilled salmon burger. I usually order their seafood pasta or another pasta, but I was in the mood for a sandwich.

It's nice eating outside, under the pines.

I liked Idyllwild when I went mountain biking there. It is nice mountain scenery without being a tourist trap like Big Bear.

Nice pictures! I like these little mountain towns and mountain communities located close to desert or basin cities out west. It reminds me of Mt. Charleston near Las Vegas.

Thanks for the comments!

Because of all the evergreens/pine trees, the Idyllwild area stays pretty green most of the year. In the fall of course you'll see the leaves of some other trees changing colors. We went once in early spring and there was still snow on the ground.

We've only ever done day trips to Idyllwild; I think someday we'd like to stay overnight or a weekend, as there are plenty of hiking trails in the area. It's such a small town, I'm sure we'd get sick of the town quickly, but if we get bored, Palm Springs would be just an hour's drive away.

Be sure to smell the bark of the Jeffrey pines, they smell like butterscotch!

Nice photos. Glad for all the rain in SoCal this year. All the vegetation looks so healthy. If only every year could be as wet. My rain Gauge at my house in the foothills of the San Gabriel's has registered 41.72 inches from January 1st to date.
