7 more years and we in Calgary will have 75% or what Edmonton has for a ring road. Come on Rachel, let's step up the pace a get the thing completed in both cities. This looks fantastic YEG, it will make a huge difference.

We will trade you for some LRT catchup.

Not quite - lanes, overpasses and underpasss cut or delayed on the Edmonton SW and West - need to be reinstated and completed. Calgary gets the full build out. The highest growth area of Edmonton is the SW and that debacle was under the PC government. Let's hope the new Government cleans this up.

Touche.
That said, Rachel still has not committed to the Green Line LRT here either. We could use that money (badly) too.

Ask the people at the military base if they feel the North is complete as well. Valour Rd & 97th was a big miss.

There is an interchange at Henday, but that interchange resulted in Valour Road being cut off from 97th Street, resulting in massive detours being required to gain access to the city of Edmonton or the Base and surrounding area, depending on your destination. As well, there are plans for a fly-over at 112th Street, however like some of the projects in the South it seems to have been delayed or intentionally forgotten about. Sorry for not including details on what I was referring to.

Gotta wonder if that was done at the request of DND for security reasons. Limiting and therefore controlling access to the base is not a bad idea in that regard.

Has more to do with Alberta Transportation standards if you ask me. Highway 28 is the priority. Having a 2nd interchange or access at Twp 542 is too close by their standards to the Henday interchange, and you would get dangerous weaving patterns. If DND and the provice deemed it necessary, a new E/W access could be built just south of the school out to Hwy 28, but I doubt it due to cost and access issues.

Right now 82nd street is what makes the most sense for easier access, or head north and back down. Either way it is a 2 mile total detour either way if your ultimate destination is 97th.

The giant "North Saskatchewan River" signs always make me laugh, as if there's multiple huge rivers bisecting Edmonton.

The big interchange at Yellowhead is really coming together and has a "big city feel" unlike any other in Alberta. It's those two flyovers go right over the center which makes for long bridges unlike Stoney's interchanges with Deerfoot which have long flyovers but are much more spread out.

^ I think it's a provincial highway standard to have a sign naming the body of water being crossed.

Agree, that 16/216 interchange is massive, feels very big-city.

Supposed to be October but based on what I just saw through there that doesn't seem possible. It might be like 2013 in Calgary all over again where October stretches to November, but I haven't been following this project anywhere near close enough to have a good idea.

Yeah. I feel like most of those signs are smaller though, what's funny about these is that it's 2 huge signs on either side of the road, same on the SW leg. I don't think Stoney over the Bow has any signs at all.

^ Hmm, you are correct. Curious.

I think October is doable for at the very least a "soft" opening of AHD, whether or not all permanent entry/exit ramps are 100% complete.

Can't wait for this to be open. I figure this will save us close to an hour round trip from Gold Bar to St. Albert vs. 98th ave in rush hour vs. the other ways we go now

Accessing Clover Bar landfill is so much easier as well.. No more waiting for trains
