LAUSANNE | projects & updates

LAUSANNE (CH)

Presentation
Quote:
Lausanne (French pronunciation: [loˈzan]) is a city in Romandy, the French-speaking part of Switzerland, and is the capital of the canton of Vaud. The seat of the district of Lausanne, the city is situated on the shores of Lake Geneva (French: Lac Léman). It faces the French town of Évian-les-Bains and the french Alps (like Mont-Blanc), with the Jura mountains to its north-west. Lausanne is located 62 km (39 mi) northeast of Geneva.

The population of the city at the end 2010 was 133'000, making it the fifth largest city of the country, with the entire agglomeration area having 380,000 inhabitants (with over 150 nationalities). For some time, Geneva-Lausanne Metro has less 0.3% vacant housing, coupled with a price pressure due the important economical growth. The Metropolitan Area of Lausanne-Geneva is over 1.5 million inhabitants. The top wage income in Switzerland is relative for the urban common part of the population because of the cost of living (very expensive in the major Swiss cities).

The headquarters of the International Olympic Committee are located in Lausanne – the IOC officially recognizes the city as the Capitale Olympique – as are the headquarters of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (and many international sportive federation). The branches of finance, insurance and business services complete the range of benefits offered by this city discreet and affable. Lausanne has a rich cultural offering ("capital of Swiss nights" with Zurich, museums, cultural and sportive big events) and many green spaces. With the EPFL (Polytechnic Federal School of Lausanne) and the Lausanne's University (UNIL), Lausanne owns one of the bests campus of Europa. Lausanne is also active in terms of biotechnology international research. The city has a 28-station metro system, making it the smallest city in the world to have a rapid transit system. It lies in the middle of a wine region.

Cantonal Museum of Beaux Arts in Lausanne

by EBV from Barcelona (Spain).

The project will be built in the old hall of locomotives, now abandoned. The site is located near the main train station in Lausanne, and will be completed by the arrival of other museums to form a cluster of museums in the city.

Bel-Air Tower

Renovation of the oldest tower of Switzerland, the Bel-Air Métropole Tower in Lausanne (inauguration: 1932, 78m/240ft high). The building has never been renovated.

Here is the project adopted. The project will be done without extending the 2 nd and 3 rd level. The connections between the Rue des Terreaux and Rue de Genève will be enhanced, thus approaching the Flon quarter of one of Bel-Air. Retail space will be created. The courtyard will be vegetated and rethought.

Interesting, the tour Bel Air is a great deco building and most deserving of a little polishing up.
I'm confused though, what is the crane for in the picture you posted? does that have anything to do with the Bel Air renovation? it looks like it is pretty much where that large night club is or used to be (name escapes me right now), is that gone?

Yes the tower is in great need, she had never been important work.

No, the crane is to renovate an old warehouse converted into luxury housing. The "MAD", and many clubs are behind some buildings in the picture.

A club existing to in the bel-air tower itself, that "the loft".

Mobimo complex at central train station

Here is the first picture of the Mobimo project near central station of Lausanne.

In 2012, renovation of large existing building (which dates from 1964).

From 2015, construction of part 2, probably a tower about 100m.

The tower will be built over the future Metro3 station.

•Former post office distribution centre with office building andcurrent interim use, area 40,000 m2
•Future use after urban development: commercial, shops, services, hotel, residential
•Investment approx. CHF175 to 225 m.
•Development period: approx. 5 years (design plan)
•Target segment: All possible types of use close to railway station in the town centre
•Location: Totally urban, central location right by Lausanne station

BUSSIGNY-PRES-LAUSANNE / CRISSIER | Boulevard de l'Arc-en-ciel

Actually, this is an anarchic industrial disaffected area, where cross the A1 and A5 motorway, and a major Lausanne access.

This area will be redefined in boulevard, which will host 20,000 inhabitants (workers + population). 6 landmark buildings will be built along the boulevard

Here are the first photomontages of one of the landmark building, located at 31 avenue de Bussigny in Crissier (ex Filtrona factory):

Cool photos and renderings!
I worked in Bussigny for a bit when I was in Lausanne. You're right, there isn't much there, typical fringe industrial area. In typical european fashion transit connectivity is somewhat decent, so I'm hopeful it can be improved. More services around the few office buildings would be nice (lunch spots etc).

Merci pour les nouvelles de Lausanne! Ça fait plaisir!

Take lunch in a car parc is not very relaxing, effectively… All this will change, but not before 2014. From this date, tramway from Renens, green square, office complex, service and housing building will replace progressively the actual urban imbroglio. There's for 20,000 people or jobs.

Here is a proposed highrise in Chavannes-près-Renens, near Lausanne (Switzerland).

This area is strategic for agglomeration development (around 2015), but the high rise is not definitely accepted.

Architect: Dahl & Richter

Lausanne - Malley Center

Malley is the bigger district of Lausanne-agglomeration. The area is built around an industrial wasteland, crossed by the railway line Lausanne-Geneva. The industrial wasteland will make way for a new headquarters, served by a subway line, a tram line under construction soon (in service 2017), the future railway station and several bus lines.

In resume, the majors buildings of this project are:

1x 20 floors
1x 18 floors
1x 17 floors
1x 15 floors
1x 13 floors

A master plan defining public spaces, the location and size of buildings was developed between 2007 and 2012. Now it is presented to the public:

today:

The gas ball is one of the relics of the industrial past of the neighborhood preserved.

Did the work begin on the Bel-Air? It's been a year since the renders. It's got a kind of gritty Art Déco feeling on this picture.

The pic was tacking during a black out.

No, the work still have not started, because of opposition to the addition of this structure:

associations who fought against the erection of the tower, are now struggling against his modification ...
