^ That is sorely needed at that intersection. As of right now, all four corners are dead, and have been for quite some time. That's a far to busy area to have corner lots not utilized.

Google maps has streetview of construction work. latest July 2016.

Also Mariachi Plaza has that construction at the Southwest closer to freeway corner well underway. You can see the google maps from a couple months back.

Oh I need to get some construction pictures up. Took them around the CicLAvia and day before.
I passed by today on the Gold Line. Still just digging.

6230 Yucca, just opposite the Argyle Hotel. Expect another crane in Hollywood soon.

I don't like how there's just a big blank wall. Are they planning to put ads on it?

LeFrak plans 260-unit Hollywood mixed-use development

Quote:
New York developer Richard LeFrak is expanding his footprint in Los Angeles with a new mixed-use project in Hollywood.

LeFrak has submitted plans for a 278,892-square-foot mixed-use complex with 260 residential units and 17,800 square feet of commercial space, according to city planning documents.

The site, at 6436 West Hollywood Boulevard, is currently occupied by a 6,000-square-foot Class C office building, according to CoStar. Built in 1931, the structure has a distinct Art Deco style. LeFrak acquired it for $5.85 million in 2007. Past tenants include Playhouse Hollywood but the property is now unoccupied.

LeFrak has filed a request for a zoning and height change. The building would vary between 42 feet to 160 feet, or between four to 15 stories.

Anyone know what's going up at the corner of Wilshire and Coronado in MacArthur Park? It's the former parking lot right next to the Hayworth.

Also, a building was razed on the corner of Vermont and James M Wood and the site looks like it's being prepped for something new. Anyone have info on that, too?

Thanks!
The was the last thing I heard of that was going on the Vermont/James M Wood lots that were recently demolished http://urbanize.la/post/archeon-grou...vermont-avenue

That project is officially off the table. It's going to be a five-story building with a grocery store and restaurants.

As for Wilshire/Coronado...

I really like that project. Alright design and colors, excellent street scape, enhances the neighborhood, parking entrance tucked to the side, etc.

Just a reminder that after a year and a half of being closed for reconstruction, the new California Incline will open tomorrow!

I've been trying to come up with names for this architectural style since it apparently just doesn't have one yet (well, aside from being colloquially known around here as "shitboxes"). How do people feel about "Geotetric?" Literally everyone that I've talked to about these buildings has remarked that they look like giant Tetris pieces and it fits in nicely with their blocky, geometric massings.

Has anyone seen the new updates to the 15 story tower that City Council just approved? It has a lot of shiny new renderings of the project. This is the proposal next to the Sunset Gordon Tower. I'm really happy the updated project has cut out two levels of parking.

I think this new version looks great. I too didn't like the first iteration. Go ahead... Break ground.... No seriously... Now!!!!

Couldn't agree more, the second design is much improved. And as for the first design, despite the fact that the podium had interesting articulation, looked kind of monstrous--very foreboding.

I put geotetric on the same level as fleek and lit.

Huge improvement over the last design, which actually had me on the same side as AHF (but for different reasons).

Ha. Glad to know I wasn't the only one who felt like a very brief AHF supporter.
