I was in Vegas last weekend and for some reason, I never really took notice of the lot that sits between the MGM and Planet Hollywood, right across from City Center. Its pretty much a mix of 1-2 story tourist traps, restaurants, massive parking lots and a Travel Lodge?????? very under utilized plot land.

Has anything ever been proposed there ? is there anything currently proposed there? I would imagine that MGM or somebody else would move in and develop something there. Hopefully a theme resort, even though I know they are trying to shy away from that.

What's really needed is faster planes to bring the Asians to Las Vegas, bring back the SST's! Who wants to spend 12-16 hours of flying time to get here when there's gambling venues in SE Asia? Ditto to the long flights from India and the Middle East!

I lost hope on the Echelon Project long ago, but being that the 64-story Fountainbleu is now for sale by Icahn, for $650 million (he paid $150M for it through a bankruptcy) I'm praying someone will come along, buy it and finish it, once and for all. Construction halted on that project back in 2009, and aren't Las Vegans tired of looking at that eyesore everyday, and particularly those living in the Turnberry Place Towers?

Good question. I would always go to vegastodayandtomorrow.com but that site hasn't been updated in years.

Even the CTBUH has a poor list. In terms of what is u/c, besides some smaller projects, there are big housing developments u/c. Not the ones we like though. I'm talking cookie cutter like developments.

What's funny exactly ? LOL

Why do you always do that ? just curious.

Page six of the Metropolis project in LA, we argued about that. You swore there was zero movement, the project was dead, all was lost, the project was canceled, Greenland put it on hold and the project was going to sit empty for years. Fast forward to today and almost all four of the towers are nearly completed.

Shortly after that, You did the SAME THING with the "Oceanwide Plaza" in LA also. They broke ground, dug down, went quiet for a little while, your response

"Its dead, its been put on hold, the project will sit empty for years, there is ZERO movement, the project has been abandoned, funding is dry"...... Yet fast forward to today and nearly each of the three towers are above street level........

Fast forward to this one, something is funny? LOL what's funny exactly? They broke ground last year in may, true, but breaking ground never means immediate construction is going to happen.

When the WG broke ground, they didn't start construction for nearly 5 months. And if I remember correctly, you claimed that one was dead as well, now look at it

I'm digging the Project website though.

http://rwlasvegas.com/

But yes, this one may be moving like a snail and may even cancel (kinda dumb to pump money into the parking garages and other things at the site just to cancel when we're not in a recession like the last time) but even if that's the case, can we even have a shred of optimism

Its still an amazing place, But this gap needs to get filled, "The Linq/Quad" or whatever its called needs to be torn down instead of being repainted and rebranded every 5 years, The Harrahs Looks OLD and severely outdated, Somebody needs to finish the Fontainebleau, and somebody needs to tear down Circus Circus BUT rebuild it more modern.

Vegas isn't solely losing visitors because of the distance from Asia, India and the Middle east (even though she saw record breaking visitors the last couple of years), shes losing visitors because a good chunk of the strip is outdated and not entertaining anymore.

(Harrahs, "The Link/Quad", Flamingo, Circus Circus, Stratosphere, Deadzone between Planet Hollywood and MGM, and the obvious dead zones in the north end) Fix this and Vegas will be unstoppable and become THEE gambling capital (adult playground) of the world.

And for the love of god PLEASE bring back the theme resorts. Stop with the Miami/Dubai inspired bland resorts.

I go up there quite a bit and it looks like to me Las Vegas is doing just fine.

I agree about the themed resorts. Want to see more of those.

It could also be due to the high HOA dues. I once knew someone that lived there, paying $1k a month in HOA dues.

Your First Word on The Revenant Project Headed to Henderson

Quote:
Described as the "largest redevelopment project on the historic corridor in over 20 years," plans have been submitted to the City of Henderson for a massive mixed-use project that will make you rethink downtown Henderson.

Proposed by SH4 Development and GC Garcia Inc., the 175,000-square-foot concept will create 111 apartments and an entire ground floor of commercial opportunities. Taking over the southwest corner of Water Street and Victory Road, The Revenant will sit almost flush with another recent addition to the block, Ladylady Brewing Co. SH4 were consultants on the brewery’s introduction to the neighborhood.

Current plans prepared by TSK Architects and KC Camis Architect call for a strip of six retailers to be anchored by a centerpiece, 6,057-square-foot, curved frontage restaurant. Plenty of patio space will be provided, not just for the main restaurant, to explicitly encourage impromptu "al fresco dining." Lovelady Brewing already features the option of buying 32-ounce crowler cans to go.

Those living in The Revenant will be able to access the building’s own patios, community garden, roof deck and a dog park.

A timetable for the ambitious project has yet to be revealed as it begins its journey through the approvals process.

Raiders file to trademark 'Las Vegas Raiders', release renderings of $1.9 billion stadium

Quote:
The Oakland Raiders are taking no chances with their proposed move, it seems.
According to the US Patent and Trademark Office, the Raiders have filed to trademark the phrase "Las Vegas Raiders." The trademark application was made on Aug. 20 and covers "education and entertainment services in the nature of professional football games and exhibitions" as well as clothing and merchandise.

But the Vegas plan is the one that's truly moving forward. On Thursday, the Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee is meeting to discuss the stadium proposal. The proposal (which you can view in its entirety here) estimates the project's total cost: a stunning $1.9 billion.

Updating the New Palace Station Tower, Restaurants, Cinema and More

Quote:
Introduced to the Las Vegas City Council as a "a significant upgrade," the multi-phase, Summerlin-infused remodel of the 32-year-old Palace Station is ready to begin as soon as October.

Adding restaurants, a 27-story hotel tower, a boutique movie theater, bowling alley, new pool and resort-wide improvements, the current railroad theme will vanish and a "more contemporary" design will rival Station Casinos’ own Red Rock Resort and Strip properties a short drive away.

First revealed by Eater Vegas in July, all the original proposals have been reconfirmed and a timeline for completion is already in place for the first two stages.

Beginning in October, demolition will make way for a new porte-cochère and a 9,099-square-foot bingo hall added to the outside of the casino floor, close to the Sahara Avenue entrance. The casino was first known as the Bingo Palace when it debuted in 1976.

Once that six-month project is finished, phase two will demolish part of the existing courtyard hotel rooms, and inside a two-story addition, add a 14,446-square-foot buffet and two new restaurants totaling 11,005 square feet to the ground floor.

Upstairs will include a small "boutique" cinema, featuring four or five screens, a small bowling alley and a rooftop and terrace with bar and possibly dining, facing 1-15 and The Strip in the distance.

This section will also introduce the necessary sewer, power and water infrastructure to supply the future hotel.

The third phase can only follow after the utilities are in place, but will include the 606-room hotel tower, the relocation of on-site favorites Oyster Bar and The Charcoal Room steakhouse, plus another dining newcomer, currently written into plans under the working name of "Noodle Bar."

Adjacent to this section will rise approximately 40,000 square feet of new convention space and an upgraded pool with cabanas, a lounge and pool bar.

And 335-feet up above it all, a bar, a 5,279-square-foot restaurant and lounge and a 1,885-square-foot outdoor terrace with very impressive views of Las Vegas in all directions. A completion timetable for this major construction project was not announced.

What is the city going to do when there's no more water in 30 or so years? I mean I just find cities like this and Phoenix kind of silly. Like you're in a desert, I just don't get it.
