Sorry boss, just have no patience for such obvious cockery.

All it takes is one Monster and then every piece of land in the core will get bought up and developed to match. That's what happened in Toronto, when TD Centre went up, it dwarfed every tower in the downtown core by 150 meters when it was built. Didn't even look right, but eventually all the other banks were like we gotta get in the game and bought all the land or (repurposed/redeveloped land they already owned) and we got monster towers all around.

Toronto's Stantec back in the day (wasn't as tall as Stantec, but you get the picture)

Love those pictures of late 60s TO. Toronto Dominion sticks out like a sore thumb. No doubt it faced massive opposition because it "didn't fit with its surroundings". Within 10 years, TO had a distinctive financial district of super-tall International style towers.

Here's one from Calgary made early this year. The only building that needs to be taken out is 3 Eau Claire as ownership has been transferred to another developer and will now likely be a single tower with a rumoured significant height increase from the previous 160 meter proposal. This render is missing quite a few towers that have been proposed since then.
