I took these shots today with my iPhone. I have never seen a frozen beach in my life before so I thought I'd share these pictures with you guys. It was like 50 degrees today so it wasn't THAT cold. Hope you enjoy.













What you see in the background is pure frozen ocean

No it is not safe - not at all, in that last shot the two figures in the background are angling for the Darwin award.

Nice pcitures. The one showing the lighthouse covered in frozen waves is pretty cool.

Thanks for the comments guys. I took the majority of these pics from a pier that was covered in ice and sand. I'm sure the ice is really hard but I wouldn't take a chance on walking out there. Here's a shot of what it looks like in the summertime.

You can venture out quite a ways, I've done it on the Chicago side but yeah if you break through you're not coming back.

It's not an ocean btw it's fresh water.
