Dual-carriageways? Jeez Dengler this is Regina not Birmingham.

I know you mean divided highway, but what is the point you are making?

I chuckled a bit at first.

My question was this: Are people around Regina (i.e. White City, Balgonie) used to interchanges yet? I mean, if they still struggle even with a simple diamond interchange, how are they gonna fair with fancy ones with roundabouts or even the diverging-diamond one?

Yes there were people losing it over the DDI for about 2 weeks. You don't hear anything anymore. It works great and is much safer - no left turns into traffic.

I'm glad that people are used to and like the DDI now. For me, I've never been through one so when I do, I hope I don't embarrass myself. Often times I underestimate how hard it is for people to get used to new things. (It's probably because they've been doing it the other way for so many decades, eh?)

If you follow the signage like you should on any road you'll have no problems. I've used the one in Calgary a number of times and am a big fan. I'm ready for more of them where they make sense.

This is true. Sometimes, it is possible to think too hard.

I used one in Utah in 2014. I had no idea it was coming, and had never used one before, and it really wasn't a problem. It was just different.

Good to hear.

Today, I got the chance to travel what’s possibly Ontario’s only 2 three-lane roundabouts. Looking at signs really helped.

Any more news on the Bypass?

They were way ahead of schedule on the Bypass due to exceptionally good weather the last 2 years, so they shut down construction for the winter. Literally nothing has happened for months.

While it appears not a lot has happened a lot of lighting has been installed around highway 6. And most of the concrete posts are in the ground for the lights at Dewdney interchange.

Regina Bypass NE phase ?

I apologise if this was already covered somewhere else as I am not on this site very often but is there any future plan to complete the bypass by completing the NE portion so that is a full ring / bypass? It probably isnt needed today but I could see it being useful in the future.

Apparently they have identified a corridor. Some of the planning docs refer to it as the NE Regina Bypass. The Highway 11 interchange was designed to add ramps etc. for the continuation to the NE.

Apparently Village RV has been contacted about the purchase of their site for a future North by-pass. It doesn't seem like it would line up well with the current by-pass.

Based on the lengths of the on and off ramps in the other major interchanges I dont think it is a route issue but a ramp issue. They likely need to have a decent buffer zone between the ramp and buildings so I can see that whole service road being affected

Numbering of the Bypass

When Regina Bypass finally becomes a full-fledged outer ring road, SK should renumber the southern portion Highway 100 with a maple leaf and the northern portion Highway 101. Y'all get the reference.

Fall. They are sticking to the original schedule even though they were way ahead of schedule and took the winter off.

Just so the ministry of transportation has more time to inspect the project?

I was out that way on Wednesday. The bypass Vic to Arcola was open, but the lanes to go ahead toward Moose Jaw are blocked off.
