3 polls in my case:
1. where were you born
2. where do you live now
3. where do you consider yourself from

In my case I didn't even live in the town I was born in, and I don't consider myself to be from there (I grew up somewhere else).

I'd like to see the same study about born and raised Calgarians. In my highly unscientific polling I can tell you:

1. Out of the 5 people in my office, none were born in Calgary. Two of us were born in Alberta, 1 in Sask, and 2 are from the U.K.

2. On my hockey team (approx 16-17 guys), 3 are from Calgary. At least 3 are from Sask, 3 from Manitoba, 3 from Ontario. The rest are from various parts of Alberta (and all are north of Red Deer).

Based soley on that, less than 1/2 of these people are even from Alberta, let alone native Calgarians.

Calgary will always be home, but I'm from all over the place...

Born in Edmonton but only lived there for a few weeks before moving to Renton, WA (Seattle burb). My family has strong ties to Northen Alberta as my grandparents and great-grandparents were Northern Alberta homesteaders although all of them were born out of the country. Stayed there until age 4 and then went to Lloydminster. After livining there for a year, moved to Calgary. At age 9, moved to Plano, TX (Dallas burb). Stayed there for 2 years and then went back to Calgary. Graduated high school a 16 and moved to Toronto/London, ON (went to UWO, but worked in Toronto on weekends and days off). After 2 years there, moved to Edmonton for a year and a half to finish undergrad degree. Then moved to Vancouver to start first graduate degree at UBC. Only lasted there one semester and moved back to Edmonton. Stayed there for 3.5 year to complete two masters degrees. Then in 1995, moved to Burnaby, BC (Vancouver burb) to work. Stayed there for a year and then went back to Calgary in 96. Left there in late 2001 for Redmond, WA (eastside Seattle burb). Moved out of there in mid 2005, when Maria got a job a Hong Kong. I took the kids to Calgary for 6 months before we moved to Hong Kong as well in January of 2006.

I more or less a Calgarian these days, now that I've lived here over 10 years. Grew up in Brockville and Toronto, and lived in Edmonton for 9 months.

Born in Grande Prairie, lived in Canberra and Sydney, Australia until I came back to Canada as a young kid in '75, then lived in GP and later, Edmonton. But I still spent quite a bit of time in GP until I went to NAIT in '91. Although now a full time resident of Edmonton for at least 14 years, I still have strong ties to GP, as some of my family still live there.

I've been a Calgarian for over a decade now. Originally from Rocky Mountain House, I've lived all around Alberta. Edmonton, Saskatoon, Athabasca, and briefly in Banff.

Those numbers look about right. Calgary thread usually has about twice the number of views and posts.

Born in Toronto, moved to Calgary as a teenager. I lived in London for a year and the south of France for a year. I've been living off and on in the middle east for the last 3 years. Now I'm here to stay.

Hey Corporate:
I didnt know you lived in New York.
What part of the city do you live in and do you also take pictures/construction updates to projects happening in Manhattan>?
Also Bonus, did you go to JFK yesterday to see the A380 Manatee??

Oh and I represent Calgary. Born in South Korea I would represent Busan in the SSC threads but I only go there to look at construction/city pictures of my home city of Busan. Otherwise I was raised here and see myself as more of a canadian rather than a korean.

Grew up 30 minutes northwest of Calgary, married a city girl and bought a house here... and as soon as I make enough money on it, I'll sell and buy an acerage back out in Water Valley... hopefully sooner than later.

Born in Calgary ... lived the bulk of my life (so far) in SW Edmonton near the UofA... attended Scona Comp HS and graduated from the UofA ... too many winters in the snow and cold so about 7 years ago traded for the rain and cool of the Sunshine Coast, BC. Bottom line ... fairly active forumer on the Edmonton related threads but so so in terms of participation on the other Alberta threads ... BUT, despite now living in the Vancouver area I'm still an Oiler, Eskimos, and Golden Bear fan thru and thru
