Yeah, but it's just my wife and me living there, so it ain't no thang. We screw in every room anyway.

You've probably all seen these already-

Neighborhood: Highland Park
Building: Longview
City: Rock Island, Illinois

Inside. (the "Marriott Hotel" carpeting gets replaced as soon as I can re-finish the damaged wood floors so no comments please!! )

Notice the "Skyscraper" book in the basket next to the couch. Imagine that. That's the Antonino Terranova book. The Judith Dupre book, that we all have, is under it.

It must be a St Louis thing. It's not "home" until it has been done.

HomeInMyShoes-- Your building is so great. I remember when it was burned out and vacant! It was abandoned for years, probably since the late '80s. It used to be called the Yorkleigh, which I like much better than the Ashley, but I can't say the renovation wasn't worth it. Looks like you have an amazing pad!

Nice looking place... I love the way with the open kitchen in a room.. ( what's that called? )

Anyway I'm kinda wondering if there's a story behind the picture on the wall? ( the one in the right side of the pic)

Thanks!

Mr D:

I'm not sure if there is a name for the open room, but now days that design is very common in a lot of newly built american homes/condos.

As far as a story behind the picture, not really. I just thought it was an interesting looking picture. Its titled Sophisticated Lady, and I bought at a local art store which specialize in African Art. I think the owner told me she picked it up in Jamaica, but where it came from originally perhaps Denmark?

I usually just hear the term "open floorplan" from realtors (when I'm touring homes for sale) when referring to these kind of kitchens that open into the living area. I do happen to go to alot of open houses in the area even though I'm not really looking to buy at this point, but sometimes I just like being nosey.

I also like to look at homes/condos every now and then as well. Yet I'm not what some would refer to as a looky loou (spelling?).

I think its one of my good friends wife favorite past times. I think she wore him out with it a long time ago, so every time I come to town (Fresno) I'm drafted to tour the new homes. The funny thing is she makes it out like it something I want to do. Since Fresno isn't the most exciting city for someone from LA, I just sort of just go along for the ride. Hey its something to do while I'm there.

well, i do know that the owner bought it about 6 years ago, for only 7 large, and he's sunk 350k in it so far. it's at the corner of watson and brush. i'll probably post some pics of my move in within a few days. (and maybe some more historical info) when he bought it it was close to falling in on itself - you could literally look up from the ground floor and see sky, near the back of the house.
