Short Weekend Visit to Chicago - May 4-6 2012

Chicago the first weekend of May 2012. My partner flew us up for our tenth anniversary so we could celebrate with our friends who have loved and supported us for this past decade. Didn’t take a billion pictures….was too busy enjoying this city…our home and friends.
Lakeshore Drive -----yeah I am home! Loved the fog .

Ogilvie METRAMARKET- better than I thought it would be! Wish I still had my job in the Boeing building so I could visit!

New Nookies up in Egdewater

Bryn Mawr Redline Station:

View from friend’s apartment:

Flowerflat on Addison!

Walking down Broadway from Addison to Sheridan and Belmont area:

Lived here for a few years…great view of the lake….couldn’t see downtown but could see the lakeshore as it bent into Indian.

Michigan Avenue-

THIS IS WHAT I MISS MOST ABOUT CHICAGO! THE SEA OF HUMANITY!!! 18 MONTHS AND WE WILL BE MOVING BACK.

Waiting for the bus at Addison and Sheridan-

Lake View Presbyterian Church (progressive inclusive PCUSA)

Grandview Redline Station

Belmont Redline Station to Halsted

The architecture is too boxy and generic for me. I like the landscaping though.

Providing once again that fog rolling in from Monroe Harbor into Grant Park can be as enchanting as fog rolling in through the Golden Gate.

fabulous Chicago thread. I really enjoyed it...wonderful coverage from downtown to the far north side lakefront.

thanks for showing MetraMarket. We've waited a long time for some thing like this, longer still just trying to get the thing open. Nice addition to the city and it's nice to see the crowds. Hope if continues to do well and grow. Unfortunately our neighbors to the north, Milwaukee, do better than we do with their Public Market.

However, maybe in time and more Ogilvie space, this place will exceed it.

Thanks for the photos!

The shots of Clark Street in Lakeview towards the end of the post remind me once again how much that street needs a makeover. I've commented before about the need for sidewalk expansion (and tree planting) and my opinion still hasn't changed.

This pos is always trolling Chicago threads. No one gives two sh!ts about your ignorant little opinions so keep them to yourself.

Great tour and pics, Chicago3rd.

^ What's really needed is a redevelopment of that god-awful Baskin Robins/Dunkin donuts site on the NW corner of Clark and Belmont. Actually, with this being such a prime area with so much foot traffic, I am surprised that there are any parking/vacant lots in this area, but there are a couple.

How could it not have made financial sense to the owner of that lot not to have gone vertical by now?

I welcome you back for your visit and your relocation in 18 months!

You are a good photographer. Your sense of scale is correct. Sometimes all we see are pics looking up at a building in close up. You give us a perspective that realates well where you are photographing from. Keep up the good work.
