I see London, I see London, I see London's underpants

So, I went to London. None of these photos will wow you as they are typical tourist junk. I was only in London for three days. And I spent the better part of it being jetlagged, hungover, or visiting a friend in a random suburb. Only 30 pictures here.

I know nothing of this building, but I like it.

Turns out the Marathon was in town. I did not run it. I'm amused by how late the London Marathon started. Like this was around noon, and this was for the elite women's group. I'm used to marathons starting at 7 or 8am

Not sure why this guy didn't want his photo taken

Apparently a lot of bikes get stolen here

stumbled across the leadenhall apparently. Its also apparently dead on a Saturday afternoon.

Some random old stuff

Some nice creativity in keeping the Marcus Thames river path going

I would make a pun about Peel (like a-Peel-ing), but I have no idea who he was

DSC_2701.jpg by the pope UO, on Flickr

Quite possibly one of the worst named skyscrapers ever

I am above making an "eye spy" comment here

Old..Yawn.

But I don't have a horn!

DSC_2659.jpg by the pope UO, on Flickr

I did climb the fire monument and I have a certificate to prove it. However, I was angry I didn't check to see if there was netting around the top

Tourists!

'bout the best the weather was all weekend

I went to Egham, and all I got was this empty street

Move along now

DSC_2606.jpg by the pope UO, on Flickr

I choo choo choose to ride the train

DSC_2735.jpg by the pope UO, on Flickr

Yup, the financial district (or i assumed it was) is predictably deserted on a Saturday

DSC_2636.jpg by the pope UO, on Flickr

And I leave you with the grave of the last man ever to die from a duel in England. Stupid French.

You need to go at like 5pm on a weekday (or any time after noon on Fridays) for happy hour...

London's the best city in the world in which to be a pedestrian. There's a level of intimacy felt when walking through its streets, although you are never bored. Such a unique city.

Fantastic photo-thread. London's a lovely city, although Lloyd's building looks like it belongs in a Robocop movie.

Great pictures, TP. Yes, the City of London proper (the "Square Mile" / financial district) is dead at the weekends with many shops not even opening on a Saturday. As 10023 said, Monday - Friday is a different story.

Egham! That's not far from where I grew up, and I have family there.

Regarding the naming of the Shard, the official / original name is / was London Bridge Tower. The design was derogatively called a "shard of glass" by English Heritage who opposed it. I'm quite pleased that it got turned into a positive!

Thanks everyone else for swinging by.
