Smile Madrid: An intense Spring is abrazing us

"Madrid: An intense Spring is embracing us"

Yesterday, I took another spring walk around Juan Carlos I park. The day was completely clear and a litlle hot (highest of 84ºF/29ºC). So I decided to go out and take some pictures. I hope you enjoy.

M-40 Highway. In the background you can see some small snow patches in the sierra.

Lilies in the cycle lane to Juan Carlos I park.

Campo de las Naciones business area.

Juan Carlos I´s rosegarden.

Reflections.

In the background, the olympic stadium of La Peineta.

Sierra de Guadarrama under the heat.

Cuatro Torres from Juan Carlos I park.

Greetings from Madrid, Spain.

Great set, thanks as always for sharing Danny!

Is Madrid's heat a "dry heat" like we have in the American Southwest?

Love large rose gardens. Good pictures of the modern side of Madrid.

Thanks for the nice comments, guys!

Yes, Shawn, Madrid´s heat, and cold, is dry. Maybe it´s like southwestern of the US, very arid and dry, specially in summer. These days, for instance, we´re reaching values of only 15% of air relative humidity by the afternoon. By nights, this value increases to a range of 40%-60%. It depends on the day, naturally. As giovanni said it´s arid, as you can see in the pictures. Arid could be the right word.

On the other right, temperatures in summer are punctually too hot, with a few days with highest over 100ºF (38ºC), and lowest around 68ºF (20ºC). As you see not so hot as Phoenix, AZ or Palm Springs, CA. But normally, during the three months of Summer, rain doesn´t appear in Madrid, but only some isolated thunderstorms.

Sigh.

My alma mater has a campus in the heart of Madrid, and one of my biggest regrets is that I never went there for a semester or two. At this stage in my life, getting to Spain is proving to be very difficult.

Great shots!
