Cal, this one of York Street that you took, is one of your best examples pf a canyon in Toronto. It's all about the lighting, the angle as well as the even and consistent streetwall. Plus the illusion that it goes on all the way to the horizon.

But seriously, awesome pics everyone. The Toronto and Calgary canyons tend to be the tallest and most impressive, but the MTL ones are my personal favourites, mainly due to the architectural styles, since I love streets lined with big brick/stone low and mid-rises (very atmospheric).

The first picture is very nice and Canyon like, don't know how it can get better than that, considering I see some of Montreal's tallest buildings on this strip...

I think the second and third pictures are most canyon-like. A canyon isn't just about height, but more about consistency and length. I may not be as strict as Traynor, but I think we can agree on that.

Btw, congrats on your York shots. It must feel so incredible to finally, after so many attempts, take a picture that impresses Traynor. You really should feel proud.

I'm sorry but I am man of high standards.

I may be tough but I will give Cal his props when he deserves them. Like the recent ones of York Street. They were all very canyon-y.

But please Cal, stop embarrassing Toronto and yourself by continuing to put Queen's Quay in this thread... It's all lake on the South side except for three buildings near Harbour Castle. Anyone who has been to T.O. knows this. Stick to Wellington and York Streets.

Furthermore, speaking of giving props, I would be remiss if I didn't give it up for francely57 and all his fantastic pics. Montreal has the height and consistency to be called canyons, plus the added bonus of fantastic old architecture. Keep up the great work francely!

If francely can post indoor canyons... I know you have a couple of cool Eaton Centre pics. No one can beat that indoor canyon. Plus the atrium at BCE place... I mean Brookfield Place... Or is It the "McCain Rising Crust Place" by now? Whatever it's called, that's a cool indoor canyon.

Once I find a 'canyon' in Montreal, I'll let you all know. Sure we have 'walls' or small 'cliffs' but no canyons.

It did take some time to organize my old pics that would be relevant, but it's a pleasure to post them to compare & contrast with Toronto-Calgary-Vancouver-etc.
And I think it's cool to have that many "NY-looking streets" in our sprawled northern country.
