SSP Competition: Green

Congratulations Aleks for winning the Hudson River Bridge Competition.

Our next competition is the Green competition.

Rules/Guidelines:
1. Send your entry to Aleks via PM.
2. Limit yourself to a maximum of 6 pictures.
3. Entries should be composed of one or more "green" skyscraper.
4. The building should be between 200 and 900 feet tall.
5. It can be anywhere on earth but a specific location must be chosen.
6. The building should include solar panels, wind turbines or both.

I'm interested on seeing what people come up with!

How about a "In Dubai" comp? It would basically be rule free!

Well I would say maybe make it a LEED competition? I think in Dubai is way to broad and I kinda like the green competition.

Here is some info on LEED:

That is a good site. It gives some nice visual examples of what to look for in a LEED design. Location is a big part of it, so choosing the right area to build would be a big part of the competition.

Well I think its just that "green" is a very broad term. LEED just seems better I guess because it gives more direction.

I am in. Here is my site located near Roosevelt Island in New York:

Thats's why I chose "green" instead of LEED. LEED seems to specific. My only requirements are the wind turbines or the solar panels [or both], but other than that you don't have to discuss the water supply and how many lights are in the building. You can choose to describe your design if you want.

Plus "green" gives more people the chance to enter and not quiting.

.

i havnt modelled in a while and am wondering if this comp
is getting a bit complicated requirement wise...

personally my interest has gone after doing 2
or 3 of them..i remember the first one i did which
i enjoyed,The low entries really suck and i think
we should discuss with all on how to spur some interest
back into the comps.Fresh ideas and input are needed
and the first thing i would do is get rid of that list ...
Why not have a thread to discuss what people
want to do in comps ..like time needed ,presentations
,voting etc ..pm everyone and lets get everyones
ideas and recommendations...first thing to see is if
there is any real interest out there................

The list isn't final. Anyone can choose a topic on or off the list. Those are just ideas. And the model doesn't have to be super complicated, the only requierements are the solar panels or the turbines. A basic concept is as good as 1,000 hour model. It depends on how well everything works together.

That's why I chose a green comp. It's not about how well you model it, it's about how you think about it.

Umm... you should put flat boxes painted black to show that there's solar panels. They don't have to be super detailed, just black boxes.

Also, you don't have to pick a spot in Dubai, it can be worldwide.

One thing i like is these comps represent true life in the industry.

Not many in the field actually get to design what they want. They design what's needed.
