Plans include a plaza with decorative paving that overlooks the creek."

I'm with you, this 4th Phase section is a disaster.

Here’s a first look at the latest completed segments of San Pedro Creek set to open soon

https://sanantonioreport.org/san-ped...ments-opening/

County Judge Nelson Wolff on Monday toured the newest segments of the San Pedro Creek Culture Park set to open to the public Oct. 14.

The opening marks the halfway point for completion of the four-phase, $300 million linear park project in downtown San Antonio.

“It’s really to me an engineering marvel to see what they were able to do with what they started with,” Wolff said of the narrow, undeveloped channel turned into a linear park where artwork reveals its history.

“We wanted a story told along the creek so people understand this is where the city began, not on the [San Antonio] River, but down on the creek, in 1718.”

Voice-activated water wall along San Pedro Creek is downtown San Antonio's newest landmark

https://www.expressnews.com/entertai...s-17491217.php

New York-based artist Adam Frank describes “STREAM,” his contribution to the San Pedro Creek Culture Park, as “a waterfall that listens to you.”

A bronze sculpture resembling an old-school microphone stands in front of the 250-foot water wall. A tiny 21st-century microphone is tucked inside the artwork.

“When anyone makes any noise into the microphone — they could be screaming, they could be laughing, they could be singing, they could be playing an instrument — their sounds are visualized in the lights in the water wall itself,” Frank said. “The idea here is to blend all of the sounds of San Antonio, whatever they may be, into the flow of the San Pedro Creek.”

The water wall can be found just a few feet from a funky art nook on Commerce Street that includes La Zona, an outdoor venue programmed by Centro San Antonio, and the Gao Brothers' gleaming silver sculpture "Miss Mao Trying to Poise Herself at the Top of Lenin’s Head." The area also is home to Texas Public Radio's headquarters and the historic Alameda Theater.

"It’s fun to be a part of this big cultural explosion happening," Frank said.

San Pedro Creek Culture Park

What: Free celebration of the completion of the final segment of the first phase of the development of the San Pedro Springs Culture Park

Where: Activities take place throughout the park, which runs from Camaron Street near Interstate 35 to César Chávez Boulevard.

Schedule

6 p.m. Friday: Adam Frank's interactive installation "STREAM" will be activated and Urban-15 will perform.

9 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday: Festivities include fitness classes, vendors, food trucks, performances and tours.

As cool as this is... I give it about a week before someone figures out how to break it. Love the water wall, hate "interactive" features.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Intentional vandalism aside, it seems like a maintenance nightmare.

So far, this is exceeding my expectations. Lots of great 'Chamber of Commerce' shots.

It's a passageway in the middle of the block created by demolishing a building. It should eventually be a restaurant type space on the right side of the photo. It goes from the street to an open space behind the Alameda and next to the creek, where the big chrome head is.
