Great photos. Burlington is such a cool town (esp. Church St. area) with a great beer scene.

^ definitely a great hippy college town that is fun to explore.

and speaking of great craft suds — here is the latest weed news:

Cannabis in Vermont
Current Policies (updated Sept. 2022)

In Vermont, Adults age 21+ can possess up to one ounce of cannabis, as well as two mature and four immature plants, for medical or adult recreational use. Only 5 medical dispensaries are currently in operation around Vermont, and the first recreational dispensaries are set to open in October. Also, dispensaries only accept Vermont state-issued medical cards at the current time. Lastly, using cannabis in public places is illegal.

Great photothread! Burlington is a lovely town.

I was checking it out on Google Maps in preparation for a quick road trip from Montreal, and I was surprised to find out that the Burlington Square Mall (or CityPlace Burlington), which was anchored by a Macy's store, closed down. We used to go there when it was very lively. Glad to see that the rest of the Church st mall doesn't seem to be affected to much though.

Thanks for posting this!

^ ha interesting -- more vermont to come and of course we made it up to montreal too.

these days for burlington we saw a lot of mom and pops downtown, tons of rehabs, lots of constant, small convention business and festivals, a solid old north side and a hopping fun south side around the weekends with the market and other events. i barely saw the college, we only drove by it, but of course that is the fueling driver for their fire.

Burlington is a great little town, and Vermont is gorgeous. It's just wild that the largest city in the whole state is smaller than, like, Elyria Ohio.

Or that more people live in Boston's 48 sq miles than live in all of Vermont?

Nice pictures! Burlington is a nice little city.

I'm guessing you're big into craft beer, if you were at Foam Brewery.

I see a little taste of Buffalo's Elmwood Village in the Old North End, like in that picture with the sunflowers.

I love Burlington. I used to go often as a kid. That beautiful building with the pointy turrets was a department store once; Abernethy's, which closed in '82. It was a really nice store.
Church street has always been a fun stretch and sophisticated in its offer, even in the seventies, for such a small city. The hippie vibe is still very much a thing.

actually its funny i walked away from craft beer awhile ago, but vermont put me back on to it. at least a little bit. its tempered by the hot take fact that the modern nyc craft beers are overall pretty terrible to meh and vermont’s are overall mostly excellent (ok yes there are a few very interesting but rather rare nyc area craft brewers like threes, carton & big alice).
