It's great how they've angled the top. Amazing how that touch can make such a big difference, I love it!

The Cash Register has always had one of my favorite tops. Imagine if they had not added that feature.

Well, it could be a nice new edition to Denver's skyline, if your thinking about it -- metaphorically -- as a book!

So i was just looking at the future skyline rendering and noticed the tetris building is not correctly placed. Its where 1900 16th should go...tetris should be way further back, behind the union station redev. grounds...even further than that actually

FLeury is right it is too close to us in that picture it should be farther away (east) thus making it smaller from that angle

1800 Larimer....

This is a very thick, bulky building at 540,000 sq ft at 22 stories tall. If you will look closely, you will see it is behind one of the smaller apartment buildings in that area of Downtown. 1900 16th would be immediately in front of the brownish/red building, right next to the white Gates building. I believe The Dirt has portrayed it reasonably.

1900 16th street would actually be very up close at this angle, and would cover up a good chunk of what we see in the rendering.

...and here's why I put 1800 Larimer where I put it:

You can see the red building behind 1800 Larimer here:

Now you can't:

Just to put my 2 cents in. I think it is placed correctly, but I think it is shown as being too thick.

Look at this view from a different angle: http://www.denver-cityscape.com/archive.html. Scroll down to 10/11/07. The tower only covers a little over half the block.

I've never seen this rendering before. Thanks! Here are the fixed renderings (you will need to refresh your browser):

You're thinking of the white Embassy Suites building. It is about 45 feet taller than 1800 Larimer. I may still need to make 1800 a bit taller. I'll stare at it some more.

I just completed part one of a planned three part update!

The major part of of this update includes the addition of recently announced:

The two buildings would be connected by a 7 story parking structure. Ground floor retail is proposed along all three street frontages. Additional information should be available in the spring of 2008, if the project moves forward.

The project, known as 999 17th Street, would include a 350,000 SF office tower at the corner of 17th and Curtis and a tower of similar size at 18th and Curtis with possibly hotel and residential uses.

I've known about this project for many months but, since confidentiality was requested, I haven't blogged about it--which was tough to do since it's such an exciting development! I haven't yet obtained permission to post the project renderings.

An entire half block of surface parking in the core Downtown along 17th Street--our "Wall Street of the Rockies"--could go away and be replaced with a vibrant mixed-use high-rise complex. Sweet!

She's a beaut. If they made it twice as tall I'd prolly die from sheer joy. Until then, absolutely awesome. 390 feet is pretty darn good.

Oh yeah, this nice twin tower project will fill up a key half block. The economy is really bangin' out projects right now, despite the mortgage crises.
