Moscow: new metro stations

Troparyevo and the plans for Salaryevo both look first-rate. Really, really nice. So much better than the catastrophes of just a few years ago (Trubnaya!). Together with Zhulebino, Pyatnitskaya and a few others, the latest metro stations are very impressive.

So, the competition for the design of two stations on Yellow line South-Western extension is now over.

Let me recap: the domestic, then - international competition was launched in summer for the design of "Solntsevo" (Sun City) and "Novo-Peredelkino" (means new outskirt of the town where river boats were reformed) stations (TBO Y2017).
After the first eliminations made by 12 architects, designers and city planning experts, there were 5 designs for each station left.
Than it was decided, that the city authorities will have an additional voice, and another one will be made by popular vote through mobile app (only local dwellers registered on public e-services portal were eligible).

So, firstly came the public vote:

For "Solntsevo":

46.8% - Nefa Architects bureau (St-Petersbourg)



19.9% - Anton Barklyanskiy (Moscow)




15.78% - Wall Group (Moscow)






For "Novo-Peredelkino":

34.2% - United Riga Architects (Latvia)




21.43% - VoX Architects (St-Petersbourg)




16% both are FAS(t) Bureau (Moscow)



and Gerber Architecten (Germany)






So, for the finals the vote for "Solntsevo" was unanimous with "JeanNouvel-ish" Nefa Architects as winner, as for the "Novo-Peredelkino" - 6 experts voted for brutalistic FAS(t), 6 - for post-modern United Riga, so city representative have decided to go in line with popular vote and United Riga won.
This experience was considered successful, so new competitions will follow on.

Unfortunately, I could not find photos with good quality more recent, than of August: currently the station is quite remote and not so easily accessible by auto, so it is not liked by photobloggers

Excellent stuffski. Beautiful floor finishes and lighting in the finished stations. It is nice to see the great tradition of delivering a superior metro in Moscow and other Russian cities.

So, "Kotelniki" station ("Kettlers", Eastern extension of Lilac line), was opened on 24th of September, 4 months later, than officially planned.

As most of the station was in fact ready for the May or June launch, there is an usual operetta "it's not us to blame": Moscow authorities blame Moscow region who did not finish land rights expropriation in time, Moscow Region blame local public transportation company, which did not submit its papers in time, company is blaming Moscow, which did not inform it officially in time.

Anyways.
