I like how Nobu continued the brick work on their windowless elevation unlike some of its neighbors who elected for cheap looking paneling. That'll be a great addition to Randolph when finished. Great updates everyone.

Don't recall seeing this posted here, but the city recently approved some changes to the proposed Toyoko Inn Hotel at 320 S. Clinton. Among the highlights-

-Reduction in building height, from 252 ft. to 222 ft.

-Removal of all four parking levels, resulting in the complete elimination of all off-street parking for the project, as well as the proposed parking entrance and curb cuts along Clinton.

-Replacing the parking entrance will be a small, two-story winter garden.

It's all right here.

I think he's referring to an agency that does soil borings. So that an engineer can design a foundation for a building. I think generally, the borings need to be reasonably current for the city to review plans.

Ugh yet another devestating height reduction...

Seriously though, glad the parking bit the dust. I'll be interested to see what this actually turns out like since I dont think there are any reasonably accurate renderings out there.

I mean that height reduction seems like the natural result of removing 4 levels of parking?

It's a piece-of-shit building, so the reduction on this one is okay...

That seems very odd. Does the city think there might have been a cycle of glaciation and soil deposit that went unnoticed since the previous borings?

No but the city coffers are being slowly iced by a pension glacier and much in need of deposits...

It's all about extracting more fees from developers. They will reject an application over literally anything. But I'm sure they could refer you to a good soil boring sub though...
