When is City Centre 2 starting? :. They've had a hotel lined up for what seems to be over a year. If they're too scared that they won't sell their high-end condos in that prime location, why don't they sell that plot to another developer??

It's not like high end condos haven't been bought and sold in Calgary before-see The River, Le Germaine, Waterfront for starters.

Great Shot

Great shot of the job site Canterra, wow, you have a ring side seat don't you? I cannot get over the length of the boom on the new crane. They are really going great guns down there, lots of wall poured, columns standing, slab on grade started, first pour on the core done, been a busy week!
Thanks for posting the shot and hopefully you can put more on regularly.

The last I had heard was about 50% (400k Sq Ft) So far I know of one major tenant that is taking up 160k sq ft.

Someone should correct the spelling of "centre" in the thread title.

www.calgarycitycentre.ca - if you are saying the 're' spelling is incorrect, rather than 'er'.

Don't know who would. This is Canada, we spell in with an 're'.

I can live with either center or centre, as they are used variably and interchangeably in Canada with success but what gets me on here is the misuse of "accept" vs "except", "then" vs "than", "there" vs "they're" vs "their" and some others I can't think of at the moment. Sorry for the off topic post

Re: re vs. er

"Centre" tends to be used as the name of a place and "Center" as a geometric location. That's at least how I have always used them and seen them used.

eg. "I'm at the center of Chinook Centre."

On topic:

It's been a while since I swung by the pit. Looks like it'll be above grade in no time.

Well centre and center are different spellings of the same word, all the others you have pointed out are completely different words...

According to the site website Centre is the right spelling.

My take is that 'Center' refers to location, but can also be used to refer to a place or building (more common in the US), whereas 'Centre' really is only ever used to mean a place or building, never in a geographical location sense.

It appears that the title has been corrected. "City Centre" is correct.
