Its always great to hear a building being added too. For Boise, getting another 5 floors on a tower with the Cities history the past few years is wonderful and I am happy for you all on the other side of the State.

I was really excited to see something planned to fill the hole that has been in the ground since I lived in Boise as a child, even more excited when the height was increased.

I feel like the crown looks a little clunky, maybe it would be better if the glass from the corner were extended to the top, but its not a bad looking building at all.

Is there a height number yet on this building?

on the elevation renderings, it's listed at 308' to the roof.

however...

there were two articles in the statesman this week that indicate the final height has yet to be determined.

one article said the building would be 15 to 20 floors.

another said the developer is considering 18 floors.

the building has been approved regardless, with the final height being determined by the developer based on demand.

let's hope for 20.

Rumors.

I heard a rumor the other day from a friend who has a family member involved with this project that the building may end up being 22 floors. BUT this is just a RUMOR, but a good rumor. The timeline at the developers website says the building permit and ground breaking (or stuffing the hole) begins this spring. I guess we will hear the final floor count once the building permit is submitted to the city. This subscription only article at IBR says the high-end Class A office space in downtown has remained stable during the recession, so there must be a demand for this type of office space which could result in more floors being added.

Wouldn't they have to go back through planning approvals for a height increase? In any case, would be nice to see this one get going.

This project has actually become my model project for when-I-win-powerball daydreaming. The lottery would never be enough to have an impact on the Denver skyline, but I could march into Colorado Springs and do something at the same scale/look of this building you guys are getting, and give my hometown a new tallest.

Finally saw the renderings. That is a really nice looking building, I'm sure it will be a great addition to downtown Boise.

It is always nice to see a city get a nice high rise...

Who exactly approved the height to be increased? Let me know where you heard it or read about it. I would like to see some of the other angles of the building. That is good news for you.

Cottonwood, I think you might be right. I just did a Google search for renderings and found this slightly tweaked design that was just posted 16 hours ago:

WOW, and I just noticed how the change is exactly what arkhitektor suggested... I wonder if anybody involved in the development read these boards?

This building is just going to look so beautiful... it's exactly what our skyline and downtown needs right now.

Nice. Any projected start date on the horizon? Seems unusual to have a project up-scaled and still be far off.

That alternate design has a couple fewer floors than the 20-floor version. Looks to be about two or three missing.

Good call, I didn't notice that. I can't access the article, so all I have is a rendering without any information, so I don't know if that's a final design or if it's an alternate.

ugh.

don't like the change. the original design was better, IMO... the added glass on the corner seems tacked-on to me and doesn't blend in with the upper level like the original design. ark's version was better, though with all due respect, i still prefer the original top.

a shame if they didn't go the full 20+ floors. after seeing the 20-floor rendering, the other versions just seem too squat.

I think a building to compare what 8th & Main might look like when completed would be West 8th in Seattle.

(taken from geekwire.)

Not too shabby, Boise.

This brochure on page 6 says groundbreaking is in the spring.
