Conawapa Generating Station, Lower Nelson River

$3,400,000,000 total est
Start: September, 2018

Owner is seeking provincial funding. Long-term monitoring programs are ongoing. Environmental hearings are underway. A formal needs assessment hearing will be held for this project and the Keeyask Generating station, March 3, 2014.

Development of a generation station on the Nelson River and a transmission line from the new hydro station to central Ontario. Conawapa would be capable of generating 1,380 MW of electricity at a site on the Lower Nelson River

Nothing new, just an update, last was in May.2013. I don't have the opportunity to post: Estimated cost..3.5 billion to often.

Hmmm.. can someone calculate and project the Hydro rate increase I can expect in 4 years?
Greatly appreciated.

My accounting skills are not yet up-to-snuff enough to give you a figure, but with a 2013 net income of $92 million to service a a $3.4 billion dollar investment on top of an existing $9.3 billion long term debt load - haven't checked if either Bipole III or the replacement cost of depreciated infrastructure is factored into that figure - we're more than likely going to be in for a bit of pain.

I'd be surprised if this wasn't a critical factor in Facebook's decision, despite their public concerns over privacy laws.

Be proactive. Start converting now.

Convert all of your heavy energy use appliances to gas. Gas stove, gas hot water, gas dryer. You'll be smiling when the price goes up.

Interesting. It does not mention that MB also received about $13 Billion in federal Equalization in the last 7 years while SK received $0. If MB had invested some of that in lower taxes and targeted infrastructure, maybe there would have been a bigger payoff.

It appears it is a place to post facts that are related to the two provinces, so comparisons are inevitable.

Yes, you've understood my post quite well. It's like Joining Ontario/Qubec for development purposes.
Or BC/Alberta. It makes no sense other than the convenience of the forum layout and joining 2 provinces because they are neighbors.

On another subject, maybe you can explain your initial post and why it is a
"Great article about Manitoba and Saskatchewan". What are you trying to say, it's vague? Politics, Resources, etc in the.comparison.
