I agree 100%, especially with the construction pushed back so far that it's staggered with the JW Marriott so you don't have two 1000 room hotels spring up at the same time

I mean frankly I think Austin could handle that no problem with the current demand but having the JW open for a while before the Fairmont opens will be good for both Marriott and Fairmont in terms of revenue in my opinion.

Thanks guys! Yeah right now I'm crashing with a friend off of Stassney, but I'm hoping to line up a place a little nearer to downtown eventually.

I also have to figure out how to update my now antiquated username.

Cool. I can see Stassney from my driveway. Anyhoo, if and when you come up with a new name and want one, send me a message. I can change it.

That quote is referring to the JW Marriott. The Statesman articled said it would take over 30 months to complete.

I saw some construction workers at the South East corner of the fairmont lot (currenty a parking lot).

They had what appeared to be a construction vehicle that was digging soil samples. I will snap a picture tomorrow on my way to work for all.
Not sure if this is related to parking lot, or construction. Better than nothing though!

Not sure if this is a sign or not, but don't they usually have parking in this lot?
I drove by this morning and there were a few construction workers with hard hats.

Yep. It looks like they're drilling for soil samples. I can't remember, is this going to have parking above or below ground? Or both? If it's all below ground then the digging process is going to take forever being that this tower will cover the whole block.

It looks like they moved some dirt around in the area where that truck was parked.

I just drove by the site and it is definitely closed off for any parking. But with all the false starts and hopes we've had with this project, it could be closed for a core sample drilling equipment manufacturer's convention.

I think this is a sign that construction is not far off. As far as I have looked, there is nothing convention related that will be using that lot. They generally leave it open to parking during the week so if it is completely closed in, then hopefully will will be seeing more drilling and other site prep stuff.
