I don't think any of that really matters. Carnegie is not going to single handedly feed a retail giant's major HQ. They need to be in a highly populated area and most places east of the Mississippi will do fine. There are great colleges who produce all over the country, grads are very mobile and Seattle area universities don't really feed Amazon.

What's really beneficial is attracting cheaper "talent" through visas worldwide and Canada is much better for that than the US.

They clearly want to be in New York and are not leaving, this is all just mind games.

Yes, I know. I said "underemployed" deliberately lol. There isn't a lot of that here. Tech talent in NYC in more expensive than almost anywhere else in the country, except SF and Seattle.

I think this report is as damning as it can get. The deal isn't closed and the opposition will only be emboldened. Queens residents are all for it- but city and state officials have a chip on their shoulders because the execs went around them. Shame.

Those tensions spilled into public view on Friday when The Washington Post published an article that said the company was reconsidering its plans to come to Queens. But the two people with direct knowledge of the company’s thinking said the article had gone too far and Amazon had no plans to back out.
