Damn, Foster is the man. The guy just keeps coming up with new and exiting designs.

Yeah, his design is one of my favorites. I like the fragmented and sharp appearnce of the tower. Really nice.

Foster's is just a giant glass stalagmite... seen designs similar to that before. This competition has some strong entries I think, but which ones are really pushing the limits of the skyscraper (aside from pushing the limits of ugliness in some cases)?

@Pandemonious, do you know how many floors does that design have? What about the other proposals?

I believe it has 118 official floors. As for the other towers, I have no idea. They left the height a little loose, so some designs are taller and others are shorter I imagine, but all should be well over 100 floors for sure.

Is it me or does the SOM design look vaguely similar to Melbourne's never-built Grollo Tower? Not that that is bad by any means, I think it is quite a handsome design and it was a shame the Grollo Tower was never built, so why not now? I'd chalk it up with KPF and Gensler as the most elegant.

I don't see any similarity between them.

Sweet, now BD won't be the only ultratall in the world.

I say we draw the super/ultratall division mark at 600 or 650 m - about twice the height of the regular supertall 300 m/1000 foot-ish mark.

By the way, the SOM design seems to be 600m tall based on how tall it is in comparison to the SWFC in that elevation on page 3.
