The majority of NY'ers who don't follow this forum are in for a pleasant surprise!

It's a historical building. Especially for New York.

Never has a roof gotten so high in the greatest skyscrapercity in the world...

Yeah, I'm waiting to see that myself. It will be dominating, but also a short lived experience, as towers like 111 W. 57th and the Nordstrom won't be too far behind.

Amazing that a building of this height in NYC isn't getting much attention outside of these skyscraper forums. I bet most average NYers have not heard of it either.

You know what?

432 PA (as well as the other awesome new supertowers planned) are going to delight not just those in Manhattan, but those in Queens and Jersey too!

For folks like me who arrive through the Lincoln Tunnel, it's going to be an experience of awesomeness because of the way the skyline unfolds itself as you are driving in NJ.

I'm the same way. There are days where I'm heading into either Jersey City or Newark, and am not so busy, so I'm hoping for a little traffic so I could see the skyline. I love the view from the ramp onto Broad St. in Newark. My favorite view. All of Midtown, Lower, along with Jersey City and many smoke plums from heavy industry. An urban lovers dream. On a day with great visibility, I just beg for slow traffic as my eyes melt in joy.

Although from NJ, its incredible how the skyline just appears out of nowhere sometimes. You go from houses, and lots of trees to immediate high density. The transition is awesome especially from Bergen County.

Which camera is that on Earthcam? I've never seen one with that vantage point. I only know of the 5th Ave, Times Square, Wall St. Bull, MSG, and Harbor Cam?

It shouldn't be long before it passes Chrysler. Should be within the next couple of weeks.

Well, I love this building but while it may it pass the Chrysler building in height, it won't surpass it. Chrysler building is special.

I love the layering in New York cityscapes. I've been on Google Earth for half an hour trying to find that middle black building in the foreground.

Edit: It's the back side of the Jarmulowsky Bank Building, corner of Orchard and Canal, finished in 1912.

Special is an understatement. It's one of the top 3 skyscrapers in New York, arguably the best for some. It's nearly impossible to build something in New York to top it, though we have some moving along that will be in that company.

I can not wait till this magnificent thing lights up at night.
It's turning out actually to be a bit broader than I thought it would.

Watching the births of 111 57th, Nordstrom's and 220 CPS will make the second half of this year one to remember. Add 425 & 5290P, 610 Lex and 250 E57th for good measure and this part of Midtown will induce droolage like no other cityscape around.

And this is *before* Midtown East (also in this general area) kicks off.

The photographer has a great vintage point in the first photos but the smokestacks ruin the view somewhat.
