That was built 3-4 yrs ago I think, I've always admired it. It faces a park as well and it just a short walk to StB cathedral

[QUOTE=Wpg_Guy;9726535]Winnipeg needs more density like this St. Boniface townhouse style new build on Rue Valade, very New York / Montreal.

448 Rue Valade

[/QUOTE

Those are VERY well thought out and designed!

Do you know who developed these?

There are so many developers (Paragon etc) copying-and-pasting MFR designs throughout the city... here's one I would love to see duplicated 100 times throughout the city...

I have seen that many times and thought it would be so ideal in sections of downtown/Wolsely, Cresentwood, St. B., Osborne....A shame that its a one-off.

I like the contemporary-styled infill homes that have gone up throughout the city, but this is a great example of a more traditional look that works really well. This is a good antidote to the more common hardie board, weathering steel and what not builds.

To Solve the Housing Crisis, We Have to Increase the Housing Supply
BY
ALEX HEMINGWAY

https://jacobin.com/2022/09/housing-...s-crisis-canda

"Exclusionary zoning of this kind imposes deeply unequal access to our cities, as well as inflicting major damage on the climate. Building more homes on a large scale needs to be coupled with ending exclusionary zoning (check out Lee’s work on how to do this).

Tackling a deep and long-standing housing crisis demands an all-of-the-above approach. That means a massive increase in the supply of housing across the board with as much public, nonprofit, co-op, and rental housing as possible. It also means strengthening tenants’ rights, taxing land wealth, and building renter power through organizing. We need all of this and more."

Interesting to see a Pierre Polieve campaign speech promoted on a basically communist forum.

Is Pierre also promoting public and co-op housing? Because afaik he’s taking a purely free market focus on competition frame.

Although I don’t disagree at all with his YIMBY mindset but am afraid it just means more single-family houses then actual density.

With the city election coming who are the best candidates in support of ubranism density and TOD?

Glen Murray
Rick Shone
Shaun Loney

I worry about vote splitting that could cause none of them to win.

Bowman sure turned out to be a disappointment. The suburbs expanded rapidly and overall as boring as Bill Norrie. Winnipeg continued on the path of unsustainable outward growth resulting in poor roads and slow growth of rapid transit. The one RT line has been a failure with Osborne Station not even getting a single new unit build near by.
